it's annoyingly and horribly difficult, which makes me feel kind of disgusting and guilty. i keep telling myself that after this pack, i'll stop, but that never works. it just feels like my go to activity when i have nothing to do or when i feel angry or stressed out or depressed. any suggestions?

Try going to your doctor and ask for Champix/Chantix.

I tried e-cigs, Nicorette, NicoDerm and a few other things and none of them worked. When I moved to Australia to be with , I had to smoke outside and that dramatically cut down how much I smoked. One day I just decided that cigarettes were awful and wondered why I kept putting that into my body and stopped right then. I smoked for the same reasons you do, and I replaced that need to smoke by drinking lots of water. Whenever I got a really bad craving and wanted a cigarette in my hand I tended to drink water really rapidly until the feeling passed, like five really quick sips. For a while after I quit I wondered why my drinks were disappearing so fast XD

That was a year ago. I don't get the feeling or need to smoke anymore, and cigarette smoke actually smells really horrible to me now. In my experience, saying after this pack or using the stop smoking helpers never worked because I was still getting what was keeping me addicted to cigarettes in the first place. You basically just have to say to yourself no more and keep to it. Don't wait until that pack is gone, throw it out now.

It's hard. Every time I got a new pack I would say that I would only smoke part of it and then no more, but I'd always finish it and then get a new one. I quit 3 years ago, mainly because I was getting really frequent asthma attacks and pleurisy attacks (I have bad lungs) and it was scary. Then I met my now husband who is really against smoking, and he helped me to quit for good. Although I still have cravings to this day and always imaging buying another pack, I haven't so far.

It might help you to think of someone to quit for, like a significant other or other family member, to encourage and inspire you, and also maybe see if there is someone else at work or school who wants to quit too and be quit buddies. Good luck I know it's a bitch to quit but you can do it. c:

You're welcome! In my last post I forgot to mention exercising. It's a good replacement for smoking when you're stressed out or feeling depressed. When those feelings arise and the want for a cigarette becomes really bad, taking a quick walk helps take the edge off.

Try bananas, they have vitamins that help your body cope with the nicotine addiction and stress of quitting. The also lower cravings and the pain that will come with withdrawal.
