The studies boost the notion that restricting metabolic activity -- whether through a drug or calorie restriction, which involves sharply reducing food intake -- lengthens life span.

I think there was a separate study done on a group of Japanese individuals, who lived longer than the average age of the rest of the country. I think I read it was because they only ate until they were 60% full (40% caloric restriction)

I've heard this before. I'm sure it works ,but I like food so I'm not going to starve myself.

I wouldn't want to starve myself either. I actually don't eat that much in one sitting, I just eat all throughout the day.

And I have low blood sugar. o_o

I sort of guessed that would be the case. If you look at other animals, those with very fast metabolisms generally have shorter lifespans (e.g. the Cheetah) than those with very slow metabolisms (e.g. Tortoises). Seems pretty logical.

But I'd stay away from rapamycin unless I was going to live in a bubble my entire life :P My immune system would be hopeless.
