Maybe a character who has this disorder? Would be logical or not?

As someone else who has dermatillomania, I would probably write a story about a character who was somewhat based off my own experiences and the story would be about the constant struggle with how they'd have to keep themselves covered and never expose their disorder to bygone because of how embarrassed they are because of it. Well that's how I'd do it, but your experiences may be different and it may be interesting to bring light to this disorder because I've had therapists who didn't even realize it was a legitimate thing.

Your siggy is pretty. Thank you so much for sharing your experience with me. It means a lot! I spent....a very long time not knowing there was a word for what I did. My obsession is with my fingers specifically. I tear them apart. I have experienced the same. Shared my findings with therapists and they didnt even know it had a name. Or they suggest that maybe I just have an oral fixation. But it surely is more than that. I did adopt her. If I cant do anything with her. She should go to a fellow Derm ;)

No problem :) and I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one with this because I've stuggled with this for years and I just though something was horribly wrong with me and finding a name for it made me feel better about it, but I've still got so many ugly scars from it and it's still something that I'm incapable from stopping on my own. And I hope you can do something with her, but if not I would be willing to adopt her :)

Also I can imagine you could try to find things that represent anxiety/OCD for her TC since that's where the disorder stems from.

Yes yes. I...have always felt that. There MUST be someone who does the same things I do. My fingers are permanently discoloured and they have callouses on the ends of them. Sometimes just putting my hair up hurts. But I go back to chewing them each time! So frustrating is it not? I felt a huge waive of relief when I discovered this disorder and also dermatophagia which is finger chewing.

Yeah it's a nightmare to deal with and completely embarrassing to explain it to people...

On a side note, either a blooded or nightmare pet would suit her perfectly lol.

Yeah, and now to find the perfect species for her too.

And yeah me too, I've thrown a good many shirts, socks, gloves, and jeans away because of bloodstains. But I feel like this is getting off topic so if you want we can continue this via smail or comments :)
