I dont know if this has happened to anyone else...but...heres my main grumpity complaint-

Artist creates commission board, I order commission, artist goes on hiatus....

This is happening to me more and more...which is obviously one of the reasons I worry about prepay people. sighs Now it must be just me...but I think that this is plain rude. I know life gets in the way...I have watched shops and try to go with people who are consistently playing...but it still seems to happen...

You know I dont even think I would be as grumpy if the person just said, Im sorry I cant do the commission your requested Im going on hiatus. That easy!

The only other thing I want to rant about is time for a commission...I dont rush people..I never do...but there really needs to be a common curtesy time limit...(again I know live gets in the way...etc..I know its a game) but Ive had people who have disappeared for 6-8 months, Ive checked in to see if they are here and they arent, then they pop up and say, oh sorry....here...pay me. and its for a simple sketch...and I was the first in line!! (I know some artist dont work in order of the orders they received...which I could also rant on...but I wont...sighs)

So Im sure I will get yelled at about this...and Im sure some will sympathize with me...most artist are great...just lately I seem to be picking all the bad ones...and I still havent gotten the art piece I really want...so...flails ok...sorry thank you for reading my rant. :P

Ouch that sucks. I had a user leave entirely with my payment once x: They got to work right away and were doing sketches and showing me everything so I went ahead and paid them 1000 CSC and theeen... Yeah no more.

I partly paid the CSC thinking it'd help encourage them because I was worried I'd be a bit difficult by being picky-ish over the pose.

Never paying before getting my art again, no matter how productive they appear in the process. They even said, "You're too generous!" Yes, yes I was -___-

I'm just glad I don't use real money to get CSC, lol.

omg Im so so sorry that happened to you! thats not right...I know its a chance we take but we shouldnt feel its a chance ya know?

Ah it's alright, at least I didn't pay real money. I shoulda known better (though it was my first ever commission I think). It was also a long-ish time ago I haven't really made any commissions since, so I haven't had to deal with the frustration of artists just up and leaving time and time again like you have.

And yeah, it shouldn't feel like such a high-risk. But some people just have difficulty feeling any sort of obligation towards people on the internet, even though they should .-.

This happens to me all the time, at least on Subeta, and I'm already picky so the pool of artists I might pick from is already small but they still seem to struggle to produce. At least I can say the only time I've ever failed to produce was by accident =| (or in the case of CWs total burn out which is why I don't take them now), I've always been proud of getting all my commissions done and staying in contact if there is going to be a delay or something, I wish more people did =<.

Ive had people poof too...I just hate it...and I completely get it...some people! lol

I'm sorry this is happening to others. I have been fortunate to not have this happen to me with sp or csc, but than again I did mostly get art from only waaayy back when:P Sometimes though, I do get a lil bit of people who say they will do event art but don't. (I have a feeling many people are going to go:But event art is not really paying for a service.) I think it is since its a service of art for event goods. -shrugs- I do sometimes get some who do come threw and I want to say thank you:) There are times when it might take a long time. I don't mind if that's the case. Sometimes they might come back and say someone I know is ill and I can't do the art sorry. I'm totally fine with that and hope that person gets well. It's when they don't give any updates for some months at all that the it's not going to happen is it meter goes down. I kind of enjoy when I get surprised by ones I didn't think would do it come back with the art. I'm like omg thank you! (It's a miracle! Your actually alive! I was going to send pixelated flowers to your account if you weren't. jking) I wonder if they can do anything if filing a ticket for art not given for csc, sp or $ works. I know they can't do much for event ones because the forums get taken down. Also kind of makes it easier for people to go, well I got all my event items/events over so oh yeah something came up(oh did it really?) or I'll just finish this up!:)(Possibilities: 1.If at normal speed than nice and thanks. 2.If not normal something came up will do later, okay. 3.Can't do it something came up, a lil sad but it happens. 4.After a long time they come threw, omg your alive thank you! or..5.After a 7-8 months with no updates they say, I'll get to it eventually;) (yeah we all know what crap eventually means. might as well say if or at all. do they even still have the order?) A little time after they set up an art shop in arts for sp and csc. (because I guess getting event items with hopes for your art is just meaningless? -eye rolls-) It might happen with sp, csc or $ shops too after a few months as well. I have heard stories.

I fear I'm one of those sporadic artists. When something inspires me I'll work like a demon to create a great piece. but if I get bored or frustrated...fuhgedaboutit, sketches become cat toys. I do try to be upfront with people about how flighty my art muse is, and I always try to make sure something about the piece interests me enough initially that I'm fairly confident I'll stick with it, before saying yes. Inspiration plays a big part in the speed/order of completion. (A quad will always get done before a human..., always. however I never, repeat NEVER, accept payment until I create something that both the commissioner and myself are happy with. That's plain unethical. If someone sends me a bribe for faster completion I'll send it right back with an apology. (In fact pressure like that usually causes more delay, if not the total scrapping of my interest in the art)

you are a honest artist...I like honest artists huggles I can completely understand regarding not being into something...trust me...I have had people..snickers commission me for honestly butt ugly things..or neon things...and I have done them...but I HATE EVERY STEP! eye twitches I get you have to be into it...definitely...otherwise its hard...

sorry missed your post because no ping...but YES to the event art...I have had that bullshit happen so many times (xcuse the language) like last pandemic I "earned" art from like 4 different people and they dropped off the face of the earth...no nothing! its nuts!

I feel you pain. Because of this I don't prepay artists on here anymore. I let them show me a watermaked finished version of my picture, before I send over my money. I already got scammend on here when I prepaid for artwork and I really don't want this to happen to me again -.-

Im so sorry to here that (and your pup is gorgeous! btw) I had someone take the money and poof too and I continued to bug them till they gave my money back (after like 6 months) and they said I was rude. Hell I am! LOL...

I mailed said user every day but they didn't bother answering even though I saw they were online. In the end I made a ticked, had to wait another 3 weeks until the user got frozen for scamming me but I never got my money back, because subeta obviously dosen't refund users if something like that does happen Dx (which I totally understand but it is still really annoying to loose money like that :/ )

I had that happen when someone stole a cw from a give a cw to the person above board...I had to write a ticket and they punished the user but I was still out...I understand I guess but at the same time...sighs its hard...

I mean I can say I understand on some artists part asking for half up front because Ive been scammed that way too...were people end up not paying, take forever after lots of prodding to pay or just...ya...screw you...it shouldnt be like that ya know?

your art makes me foam so much!!! I love your stuff...and I can get cws taking a lot out of you...the process is exhausting, and Ive only been on one side (the purchasing and reselling part) its crazy! but I hope one day to be able to afford you!!!! determined because your so very talented. and Ive always noticed your consistent...you get stuff done!

Aw thankies, Hugs back. Sheesh, nothing rude about asking for your money back if you don't receive what you paid for. I tend to stalk the freebies forum, 'cause I love doing art, there's no pressure there, and most folks tip real nice. So sad there are so many scam artists out there. I agree with , gorgeous pup.

I totally understand your point of view, too. That's why I ask for the artists to send me a smaller, watermaked version of the finished picture. That way I can be sure the art is all finished up when I send the payment. Sadly that won't help if someone commission a picture and then vanish shortly after, so I totally understand your pain :/

I feel like taking money for a service (art) and then not doing the said art is scamming? Maybe it's just my opinion. I understand real life gets in the way but if someone's already paid and you can't do it you need to send the money back. I thought it would be common sense or the right thing to do, but maybe people are greedy these days 😞

The user who scammed me and got frozen for it, wanted the full payment upfront before he/she started with the picture at all. I never had any problems with it before so I send it without thinking about the consequences. Well the user send me a very sketchy headshot of one of the two characters I wanted (it was a couple, lined and colored fullbody picture I wanted) one day later and then well, they poofed -.- After that day I started paying artists after they showed my the finsiehd watermarked version and I never had problems with it anymore (although 3/4 the artists I do commission pictures from dissapear anyways but at last I don't lose my money of it anymore)

thats exactly what I do...and when artist throws a fit about it...I state what has happened and why I have a problem with it. I explain its not them...I just have been burned and I dont wish to continue too

Same here and I have to say until now everybody I commissioned art from and explained why I don't want to pay upfront had been very understanding^^
