Though this was made because of the movie, feel free to talk about the book too if you like. x3;;
Has anyone else seen this wonderful movie? I just watched it, and I was blown away. Though I didn't break down sobbing like my parents, I couldn't take my eyes off that screen. Sometimes the truth is stranger then fiction, and this is one of the best cases. Near otherworldly and so inspiring. ^_^
I need to go find the book, and the fact I have a gift card only encourages a trip tomorrow...
We had to watch it for Sophomore English. I loved that movie. It made me rent the book from the library, which I also loved. It's... hard to believe that a high school would be so separated like that. But, like you said, truth is stranger than fiction.
H-he punched out all my blood!
I've seen it twice, both times in school. It was rather sad at times, but it's nice to see children in impoverished schooling situations actually receive some hope in a real way--something that is not a corny made for TV movie.
Personally I'm tired of the whole race issue thing that people keep making movies over. So I didn't really enjoy watching it. I couldn't sympathize or empathize with practically anyone, and I thought a lot of the kids acted in a really stereotypical manner. I guess people really act like that? Truth is stranger than fiction and all that nonsene, lol.
The song is really catchy, however, and it makes me tear up when I watch the music video. P:
