We haven't been able to afford cable or satellite for a few years now.... & have been using a Converter box & an antenna... there are pretty good channels on now & we get all the major networks as well. It's hard to get used to not being able to pause tv again, but the shows we want to watch the most we download. We also have a Roku & Blue Ray player so we can watch Netflix. Has anyone else gone this route or been thinking of it? (I'm in the US btw)

I've never really had cable or satellite TV ever in my life. I grew up in a rural area where cable TV isn't even available as an option. When I was a kid, satellite TV was still quite rare, as the satellites where HUGE (several feet tall). My parents were not having any of that.
They eventually got DirecTV when I was in my mid-20's, since dishes are much smaller nowadays. Actually, my brother moved back home after getting a divorce and brought the satellite with him. He wired the living room for it since my house was not pre-wired for any sort of cable or satellite TV.
As for right now I am living in a different house with a friend. We can't afford cable TV, nor do we want it. I have a Netflix account and that's good enough for me.
I remember those HUGE dishes... haha
