Okay, I am ashamed to ask this but... Since when has there been a User BLOCKING feature oO?! And how does it work? Do you need a valid reason with proof to block someone?

Also, I just got this event precisely 7 minutes ago:

"You have been blocked by ---------. Please refrain from further contact with this user. Doing so could result in a warning for Harassment!"

From a user that I've never even heard of nor interacted with before, nor even seen around the forums. If this is someone just spazzing out and blocking random users I don't really care but if there's been a complaint about me which resulted in this, does that affect my account? Like, does it serve as a warning or as a penalty..?

Because I certainly don't recall doing anything that would result in a user feeling the necessity to block me... I haven't even been active these past few months except for event forums and my own chit-chat thread with my friends x__x... I am THOROUGHLY confused right now.

Nope, just somebody being a jerk. Looks like they're on a rampage, cause you're like the fourth person I've seen that happen to today. But it doesn't hurt your account in any way. They just won't be able to see anything you post anymore. (Or is it the other way around? idk, I have a terrible memory)

Looking to buy this!

You can access it via the sMail feature. You don't need to give a reason to block someone, sometimes people are idiots and just do it for silly reasons (because they don't like your HA, because they don't like your font, because they don't like purple, IDK). XD I wouldn't think too much into it.

You're right, they won't be able to see what the OP types. The OP can still see what they type though. XD

It's been in place for YEARS. It's under sMail, at the top it says 'Block'. And you can block for any reason whatsoever. If you don't like their posts, their HA's, whatever.

I really wish they wouldn't do the 'You've been blocked!' notification, though. It seems to cause more problems then it solves. For example, during events, sometimes NPC's come in and have a conversation. One year, a few users decided to use their board for their own little personal RP board, and the NPC's were lost among pages and pages of their 'dancing' and 'bowing' and tittering. I wanted to read the NPC's without wading through all that, so I blocked them temporarily. It wasn't anything against them, I just didn't want to read their posts. After the event, I unblocked them, and promptly had one of them start yelling at me, saying I made them cry.

A vast majority of the time, people complain about being blocked by somebody they don't know. If they never interact with the user, they wouldn't know they were blocked, except that notification, which stresses them out.

Whew, that makes me so relieved... and kind of mad >>, I really worried there for a second. ^^ Thank you for answering though. It seems I can't see who the user is nor access they're profile or anything so it might be me who can't see them.. Or maybe both ways? Oh well, thanks again :3 I feel much better now ❤~

To be honest, I did feel bad, but it was worth it. It cut that thread down to a third of it's original size. I understand getting into the spirit of the event, but don't monopolize it!

coughs But I'm getting off topic. People sometimes block for the dumbest reasons, myself included. I wouldn't worry about it, it's probably something on their end, and nothing you did.

You can't see their profile or anything, but you can still see their posts, unless you block them in return.

You'll still see their posts/topics but you can't see their profile. They can't see your posts/topics or your profile. XD If you ping them by accident I'm fairly sure they won't get it either.

I was kidding. X) I understand totally why you did it, I would have too if I'd been active enough to be keeping up with the NPC conversations...

I see it! :o, I never noticed that there...

I don't like purple either ^^.. But anyways, I think there should at least be a valid reason that needs to be given if you're going to request a user be blocked. Especially if there's going to be a notification event on your sidebar.

:o oh, I see. Well, actually, that's mighty convenient XD. Especially if it's someone that spams a lot :P.

I agree, that blocked notification stressed me out a lot. If it does nothing to me, I'd rather not see that XD.

And yeah, I do understand about the event threads. To be honest, I post a lot on event threads instead of editing my post with, say, the number of dances I've done with the OP, so that I can bump up the thread. I'd understand perfectly if that was their reason ^^'. However, for something so silly, I don't want to go through the stress of wondering why in heaven's name someone felt the need to block me x_x.

Ah, I get it. So only the person who has been blocked can't see the profile of the person who did the blocking.

I know you were. ^_^ And obviously I haven't learned my lesson, I've blocked a few users spamming up the events forums this year so I don't have to see dozens of their 'Dance with the User Above ' topics, and unfortunately at least two people have taken it hard. I REALLY don't like that notification. I don't want to see their spam, but I don't want to hurt their feelings either. sighs

And I think bumping up threads like that is just fine, that's obviously what the OP wants! It just annoys me when people start attention seeking by making tons of the same thread, or turning public plot threads into their personal buddy/buddy chat, making others feel like their intruding.

Ah, yeah, that irritates me too. If you're on a kissing/dancing/etc. thread, you should at least make sure that at least 4/5 of the posts you provide are related to the thread and include a kiss/dance/whatever.

I would love to be able to be able to block those users that post on those "__ the user above!" threads but NEVER actually provide said action to the user. But sadly, that's not going to change anything as they're still going to post and repeat their process of self gain with everyone else.. AND everyone else gets to see their post either XD, yeah, I wasn't thinking that through. Blocking is no help there x_x.
