So I was wondering what others do to keep their critters cool during the summer. We don't have air conditioning and we live on the second floor so it heats up pretty quickly. I have floor fans all over the place and have taken to misting down my cats with a spray bottle. They really love it when I do that.:) And of course lots of fresh cool water.Any helpful tips for when I'm not home?

I know we used to have one of those little plastic pools for our dog during the summertime, maybe if you have a balcony or something you could do that if you have dogs

I know you said dogs but when you mentioned little plastic pool. I don't know why but I imagined a cat in a little pool with water wings on. It made me giggle thanks for that. :)

My cats and dog love when I put ice cubes in their water in the summer. my mom would get dry ice (put it in a container animals can't touch, but air can flow through, like a wire cage or something) with a fan behind it to help keep it cool in the house.

That sounds like a excellent idea. Thanks!

I get kind of worried because we just had our first black out of the summer 2 days ago. It's manageable when it's at night and I can open the windows and sliding doors but we do get at least 6 black outs over the summer. I probably just worry too much though.

I gave my dog some frozen plain yoghurt. He loved it. And I go alot of swimming with him or try to go for a walk in the woods. Though I guess that's not really possible with cats :) .

I agree about the ice cubes in the water, I used to do that for my cat when she was little (more to amuse her than anything) but also cold water and fansNodPersonally we have AC and several fans so she's pretty well covered lol
