Im 17 and my wisdom teeth are coming in. (I have all 4) The other day I started getting really bad pain in the bottom far left side of my jaw. At first I thought it was my wisdom teeth coming in. The pain then spread to the top far left side. I still thought it was just my wisdom teeth. Then it started spreading to not just my gums but more the hinge in my jaw. Then it also started spreading slightly across my top teeth. The pain is very on and off. Sometimes I feel no pain what so ever, and then the pain will slowly start, getting increasingly more painful, then I can feel it slowly start to go away. Also, heat makes it worse. If I'm eating something hot, and chew on that side, the pain immediately returns and its even more painful then usual. Im going to the dentist tomorrow (the appointment was made when I thought it was my wisdom teeth) Has anyone else experienced something like this?

Sounds like sensitive teeth, maybe? I have v. sensitive teeth {weak enamel, boohoo}and my teeth hurt like a bitch after I eat, esp if it was hot/cold. The jaw pain sounds a bit fishy, though. Definitely discuss it with a dentist, I'm at a loss for an explaination.

This is all really sudden though. i have very sensitive teeth too, but this is not a sharp tooth ache kinda pain, its more of a throbbing intense pain.

huh, strange. Absess? Impacted tooth? Maybe some kind of problem with the nerves in your jaw/gums? It's a bit strange how spread out the pain is. :C I hope your dentist can figure it out!

Because of how spread out the pain is and not in a specific place, I think its more my jaw and gums rather then a tooth.

I think I have the same exact problem. It started suddenly like 6 months ago. It's from grinding your teeth/clenching your jaw. It usually happens at night but I sometime notice I am clenching my jaw during the day too XD My dentist gave me this retainer thing to wear at night, and it's wonderful. You should ask your dentist for one :P

Also for me it gets worse when I'm stressed. So try to calm and it might help as well.

It actually went away the day I went to the dentist for it. He had no idea what was wrong, and just gave me an antibiotic. xD

it sounds like you're clenching your teeth, but it can also be TMJ (temporomandibular joint disorder). It's very common but can be worse in others. For me it is constant pain and crepsis (my jaw crackles and pops when I open and close it).
