I've been reading a bit on the forums but I'm still not quite sure I get what the Masquerade is all about, so I'll summarize what I've gathered so far and then ask my question.

-You dance with people in a special Masquerade forum, like the kissing thing now. -Dancing gives you tokens (steamworks or lounge).

...is that the extent of it? Is there a HA clothing requirement to participate (maybe just a mask?), or do people just dress up for fun? How do I know if my clothing is the right kind?

The only thing you need is a mask. :) Just about any of the masks you find that look logically like a masquerade mask will work. There are some that don't, like the doctor's mask and the zombie masks, but using logic you won't go wrong easily.

It's a Steam Punk oriented event, so a lot of people try to dress 'Victorian-esque' but that's only for fun, and not a requirement. :3

There may or may not be a plot, we'll have to wait and see. But you have a good understanding of it. :D

Also, you need to have a certain HA "expression" (enamored) and because you're a zombie, it won't do ANYTHING to your avatar at all; I've left mine on enamored for about two years now :)

Sorry if my question is odd. Has the Masquerade begun? I find no clue about it. And, if it has begun, where can we dance?

The masquerade hasn't begun yet, don't worry. :) There will be an announcement in the news when it does!

Perhaps they've changed it, but I remember one year I couldn't dance because I had the wrong expression... either I'm crazy or they changed it lol

I was able to dance with whatever expression last year.. But I think when you we're dancing it just showed the enamoured expression on your HA and it wasn't required to be like that.

You can use whatever one you want, but the snapshot of you and your partner on the dance floor uses whatever you have for your enamored spot.

where can we get the masks?

They usually restock in the Holiday Shop or you can always buy them from User Shops. You'll need ones like the or and other masquerade-y type masks, not the kind of masks..
