there are at least half a dozen serpenth colors that need some serious love.
why not have a contest? there are so many talented artists hanging around subeta that could get it done in no time.
(while i'm here, may i suggest that going forward, all new pet images be made transparent to work with any page design? white background is the worst)
It would be neat if something was done with them, most look pretty sad!
As far as the transparency goes it does not feel that important. Making images transparent it pretty easy with GIMP anyway.
No, thank you. :) Apart from that I think that this isn't possible anyways I personally rather wait another year or two and get an awesome new Serpenth from its official staff artist. Patience.
yes, there are amazing artist in the subeta community... but still like said, it's not official subeta art.
maybe you could commision one of those artists to create an overlay while we wait for the revamps?
and about the transparency, yes!!! this would be great! i know it's easy to do with photoshop and gimp but not all people use this programs or know how to do it...
if it's that easy, I think its reasonable to ask that the official art comes that way out of the box. Doesn't it deserve to have that versatility?
Especially pets of the more exotic colors, and experiments. I wouldnt even bother drawing them an overlay if they were transparent & seamlessly fit with any background; their official art is already perfect.
I'm reacting pretty strongly against the idea here of having a contest for user submissions. The staff is in need of artists, it is known; additionally, how many times have we all seen it said that every pet will eventually be redone in all colors? Patience is the general game when it comes to pet colors, and personally I think if someone has not that patience, they should focus instead on finding one of those talented non-staff artists to commission an amazing overlay.
As for transparency, it could be hard a bit hard since some of the art are old and the artist might not have the original file to take off the white background... but yeah it could be nice if they could implement that for all the images except the items.
I also found it sad that items seem more important then pets now and pets revamps don't happen... There is a lot of nice pet revamp that started and never have been finished... But I disagree... the revamps should be done by Subeta Artist and not by users, to get some stability in the style and all...
Considering that I'm pretty sure the serpenth has an artist at the moment (IIRC, ?), I feel like having users create colours for it would be a gigantic slap in the face.
In addition to what said this just wouldn't work! We spend many hours and let's face it, years perfecting the Subeta style and certain pets. tbh if staff artists were judging I can't see their being any winners. Not only are we picky, but the current Serpenth artist already has a perfect grasp of the pet...so there's no need. Yes colours have been few and far between but that can be said for many pets, the serpenth is just one of those popular ones that had an AMAZING revamp so people naturally want some fresh new snakes to oogle at. Which is totes fair. But every staff artist has a bunch of responsibilities (in addition to each pet artist being responsible for multiple species), so naturally it could take some time, so patience!
Unfortunately 'patience' is the answer for everything. Hehe.
No offense was intended. I read elsewhere on the forum that the Serpenth had not recieved an update in over a year. I apologize if that's not the case.
got it in one.
Subeta has the best art I've ever seen in a virtual pet site, I think new pets and revamps are definitely worth the wait ;)
Yes, the Serpenth hasn't been worked on in quite sometime since the colorfill revamps as had something happen that limited her ability to draw. (I think it was an accident that hurt her drawing hand + a natural disaster or something.)
She's still fully capable of drawing the Serpenth, but I think her real life issues take precedence over drawing some snakes. As said, patience.
As I said two posts above, I didn't know any of this. I certainly didn't imply that virtual snakes take priority over real life, and I only need to be informed (and told to be patient) once.
