A friend of mine told me that the maximum ping allotment in one post is five separate pings? When was this put into place? O_o

I feel like I've seen more than 5 pings in one post, hmm. I'd like to know this too.

i don't think this was ever a rule. i've certainly pinged more than 5 people on countless occasions.

I'm surprised by this too if it's so. I've been pinged in far more than five in one post instances.

I'm not sure if it's a rule, but I would also like to know when this feature went into effect. Recently, I've seen only the first 5 pings in posts count when users put more than 5 :( I have no idea when it started but I don't think it was always like that.

It's not a rule, but the way the forums are currently set up (whether by coding or some other means) so that only five pings will work per post. So if I wanted to ping eight people, the first five would work but the remaining ones wouldn't. They'd still show up the way I typed them, but they wouldn't look like a functional ping and I'd have to ping the last three people again in my next post.

It was probably implemented to keep ping spam down or something to that effect.
