So I'm trying to sell some journals. Here's the first one, and here's the second one.
The designs are drawn completely by hand, in Sharpie, without the aid of any ruler or straightedge or compass. At this point, and at this size, each journal takes me an average of six hours to complete...
So far, on my facebook page, I haven't sold a damn thing. So I'm thinking about broadening my audience and starting opening these up to folks on Subeta.
Yall who're more familiar with the art market scene: What d'you reckon one of these is worth? In USD, preferably...
I guess the price would depend on how much the material cost you + amount of work. I'll say at least 20$+ price of the material since they do take a while to make. But I'm horrible at pricing and I got no idea how real-life hand made stuffs are priced so ...
I'm not of much help pricing-wise but ... Have you tried selling these on Etsy? I'm sure they would sell well there and it would be a great place to start! Lot's of people use it and it seems like the perfect place to sell these.
I'm not sure how well the real life handmade items scene does on Subeta ... I know I've seen a few shops but I really don't know how well said shops does or how miuh they sell their stuffs for...
tl;dr I'm not really much help but I wish you good luck since these look beautiful!
Edited since I made a few mistakes
It's funny because my original intention was to sell these on Etsy xD But Etsy charges 20 cents a month per listing. And I'm just not sure if I'd be able to reach enough people to make it worthwhile... I'm scared I'll just end up sinking into obscurity and wasting my money on the listings xD But perhaps I'll do it when I have more than just two journals to sell.
twirls Thank you, m'dear. Your help is truly appreciated, however small it may seem :3
Firstly, these are lovely! I especially like the one with the treble clef... It speaks to the music geek in me :D
As far as pricing, I think I agree with 's estimate as a minimum. These are handmade and one-of-a-kind, not factory-made clones! You clearly put a good amount of work into them, and the price should reflect that.
Have you considered opening a shop here on Subeta? For physical items, you don't need to have an sP or CSC slot. You could even make them customized based on a theme or colour given by the user for extra interactiveness :D
Thank you! ^_^
I was actually planning on opening one! I just wanted to see if my pricing was reasonable, first! But yes, I think I'll go ahead and do it. Thank you for your input ❤️
I'm poor as stink right now, but one of the things I love to buy? Really pretty journals :D So I may save my pennies and keep an eye out for your shop! Let me know if you make a ping group.
