So. I have panic attacks about death. ALL. THE. TIME. I don't know why, they just happen. I'm afraid to lose my parents, my grandparents, my own life. I like living. This happens on a daily basis. I know we're not promised tomorrow, but the thought of an eternity of nothingness scares the fuck outta me.

I need to go to a doctor. Soon. I'm losing sleep over this, and it's not normal. Anyone else like this? Please tell me I'm not alone...

You sure are not alone. Alot of people are very afraid of death or even just to age. Though this shouldn't bother you 24/7 and affect your sleep. I personal don't really have a problem with both. Life/a body is not made to last forever... In my work with old people I learned alot about the fact that life has to end someday. It's way to exhausting when your body/mind woun't work anymore and is worn out. It's improtant to let go when the time comes.

You are not alone with this at all. You pretty much just described me to a T. It's not as bad now that I'm on two different medications for anxiety and I'm in therapy, but if I even start thinking about it I spiral into this awful paralyzing fear that I can't shake. It especially sucks when it happens before bed time. For me it's not so much the process of dying, but death itself... just not existing anymore. I can't even fathom it.

I definitely suggest going to a doctor. It's helped me a lot. If you need to talk about this sort of thing though, I'm here!

Oddly enough, I also get the same fear reaction to thinking about outer space. I really can't explain that one.

Don't waste the moments you have living by worrying about dying. :( A lot of people share your fears though, so don't feel too odd. If you feel that you need a therapist, then I'm sure there will be one out there who has treated people with similar fears before and knows what they're doing.

Also, remember that once you are dead, you will not actually be aware you are dead. You won't feel sad or alone or anything. You will only ever experience your life.

Sometimes I have similar things, though not quite as extreme. Sometimes I wonder what would happen if I just died in my sleep, and that really scares me. Sometimes the idea of... an eternity of nothingness comes into my mind, but at the same time, I try to take relief in my belief in spirits ect. I'm not religious, and if you don't believe in ghosts that's okay, but it's something that I take some personal relief in. c: Dunno if it will help but... I gave it a shot lol. If you need a therapist or anything though, I hope it'll help you!

Maybe it's because outerspace is so big and unexplored? I mean our planet is unexplored as it is, but in the scope of things as far as space is concerned, our planet is so small I don't think we could even comprehend it in comparison. I love outerspace as far as like... all of the plants, comets, stars, and so on go, but it's really kind of... daunting, in it's own way. So like... just the unknown in itself? But I think it's a bit daunting to me personally because of black holes and whatnot. xD

I don't know about the OP, but this is actually part of what upsets/worries me the most. I won't even be able to mourn my own passing. I know that must sound bizarre and petty, but it really truly terrifies me.

Yeah, that makes sense! I always told myself it was just a fear of 'infinity', but a fear of the unknown makes sense as well.

I don't think it sounds petty or bizarre. I think it is understandable that that would be a layer of concern in the whole fear of death issue. Hopefully both yourself and the OC will be able to work through your fears so the thought of death won't be so intimidating and prevalent anymore. : ) I wish you both the best!

I nearly lost my mother back in June. It put a lot of things into perspective.

The most important thing that ordeal taught me was how precious life is and you cannot spend that time worrying about if today's the last day you'll have on earth or if today's the last day your loved ones will have on earth. Every moment is a precious gift, now you can chose to spend those moments worrying about the day they're no longer there or you can embrace it and let them know you love them, day in and day out.

You arent alone, but worrying constantly is both silly and counter productive. The more you worry, the more you stress. And the more you stress, the sooner you'll die.
