Any time you see these words together like this it means an animal is getting hurt so some dumb as human can feel like they're doing good.

While I agree its disgusting and inhumane, its hard for me to differentiate it from many similar practices exhibited in meat, egg, and milk production everywhere, including the states.

Never claimed it was, but I've heard a lot more people saying they're prefer these "remedies" to synthetic ones because "they're more natural" and supposedly "less cruel" than ones created in a laboratory where they're spraying them in rabbits eyes and that's just not true. There are animals going extinct just so people can feel superior to people who use western medicine.

There are animals going extinct just so people can feel superior to people who use western medicine. I see. I live in asia actually. Over here we generally think western medicine is more effective for short-term problems and traditional medicine is better for long-term ailments like chronic pain. But the belief that traditional medicine is more natural might also be a factor. I don't really think they do it to feel superior though, when they're that sick, they're just willing to try anything in hope for a cure.
I don't know enough to comment on the efficacy of bear bile, but if it really works, I'd support bear farming in the absence of substitutes. I think testing/extracting medicines from animals is a necessary evil.
