http://www.weather.com/outlook/weather-news/news/articles/north-alabama-storms_2012-03-02 My prayers are with those in harms way. :)
Yeah, I see you.
hey subeta peeps out there , hope you guys are safe .
I wanted to post a bit about this yesterday, but it's been a very long and stressful week for those involved here in Missouri, and I'm quite sure in all of the the affected areas throughout the US. I watched the coverage of the tornado through Joplin last year, praying that I'd never find myself in that position, yet here I am.
It's so easy to sit back and watch things like this happen, watch the relief efforts, but never truly realize what it is like for not only the victims losing homes, but businesses hurting, and folks taking the time out of their busy lives to come and help. American Red Cross, Salvation Army and other legit organizations like them truly do make a HUGE difference in so many lives, from creating these shelters and making sure we're fed to hauling ass to find transitional housing for those of us in a holding pattern... unsure when (or if ) we'll be able to go home.
To anyone who may be reading this and secretly going through this mess in ANY of the affected areas, my thoughts and prayers are with each and every one of you. For those who may be offended by that, my apologies, but political correctness is the furthest thing from my mind this week. Chin up, y'all... we'll make it through this.
Dear weather, Those of us in the South would really like you to bugger off and give us a break already.
I think Alabama dodged the brunt of it this time around, except for the northern part of the state, but my thoughts are with everyone affected.
And I hope all the Subetans on the way to the meetup today are safe.
Yeah, a tornado hit us here in Georgia. The west side of my city got hit really hard, but thankfully, it went around my street instead of through it.
My best friend got hit too, but she's in Kentucky so she got even worse weather than Georgia did.
Aww, thank you. My city is fine for the most part; it's just the one side that's damaged. My friend and her family are safe. We got lucky.
You're very welcome.
My husband and I are very lucky as well. We've lost pretty much everything... including a car we had just paid off a couple weeks ago, but we still have each other and our dog. We've been at a shelter since Wednesday, but get to move to "transitional housing" (read: hotel room) after breakfast tomorrow morning, and I just found out a bit ago that we should be able to go back home (to our regular hotel.. (lol long story)) within the week. I feel a bit blessed, even though I'm not a very overly religious person, because so many of these people we've met have even less. It's a truly horrifying and humbling experience... that I wish no one ever had to go through again.
My family lives in California, but some of my parent's friends live over in the affected areas. We know for sure that one who lives in Kentucky is fine, but I don't think my mom has heard from one of her friends who lives in Missouri.
I wish we had extra money to donate to the relief efforts, but things are tight. I'm sending all my best wishes to anyone who's been affected. Stay safe. <3
Yeah, I totally understand. I was telling my friend on the phone, "You can always get your material stuff back. Make sure you take care of yourself." We were fortunate enough to not lose anything. I'm sorry that you lost so much, and I hope you're able to get back on your feet soon.
@ tattoos Yep, material stuff is just that... stuff. I'm just hoping I can one day repay all this kindness that so many have shown this week. Thanks much for the well wishes.❤
I know the feeling well as far as wanting to help, but not being able. The best wishes help more than you realize, though (at least, for me). No worries. :) Hope your Mom hears from her friend very soon.❤
I'm off to get my things together for tomorrow's move (and maybe lurk long enough to catch Skitters some fishies) before "lights-out". Stay safe, everyone!
