I'm stumped on how to represent a body hair overlay with a representative item. Please brainstorm with me on what "does it for you".
The item for the beauty and the beast costume trunk is a candlestick. ...really?
Essence of Manliness and Muscles of a Demigod show torsos, but the item I will be creating has hair that covers parts all over the body. Can a torso seem like a whole body item or suggest one to you?
A bottle like Masculinity Serum?
Razors? These are what you use to remove body hair, but maybe they're evocative.
The gay community uses bears and otters.
Google searching shows ewoks, wookies, sasquatches and yeti, monkeys and orangutans. Mightthese be misunderstood to be animal companions?
What about the idea of a chest pelt? As in, the V neck part of a button down shirt with a loooot of bodyhair peeking out of the V. Pretty self-explanatory, I'd think.
Oh right you didn't care for the image of just a chest.
What about something like a literal "suit", all body-hair-riffic but sort of floppy and draped over a hanger like a second skin or a discarded bodysuit? Like a bodysuit made of transparent material (or slightly visible material) that had hair all over it? Could be pretty amusing actually.
I'm fine with the image of just a chest, if that's what evokes it for most people. I'm trying to minimize rejections, so I thought I'd roll the idea around in more heads than just mine, though.
There certainly are fairytales of selkies that lose their pelts to clever fishermen, and these are presumably furry seal-y things. I'm amused by your idea of the fur on a hanger.
What do you think of the typical hunters lodge pelts? Are there any that seem especially hairy and pelty to you?
It wasn't exactly fur on a hanger, more like literal body hair. A little sparser than actual fur, and funnier for all that. But that's just me.
My other thought was some kind of bear pelt, yeah, but that sort of goes along with the whole gorilla/ape/monkey reference that you mentioned didn't really interest you because it could be misconstrued, so I didn't go that direction. Bear in general could be adaptable because there's black bears, brown bears, polar bears, etc if you wanted to do recolors.
My hubby is manly hairy so... For item images what I personally think of is A bar of soap with some thin hairs stuck on it, A clogged drain, A stick of deodorant with hair on it I also think of how cozy and warm his hair is so perhaps a blanket (furry blanket) or even more hilariously a sweater made of hair (omg 'Manliest sweater'. squee)
When I think of men and then hair the body parts I most think of are legs, chest, and underarms. If you did a chest item, maybe one of the arms could be raised showing armpit hair?
when you talk about manliest sweater, I think of the song Sweater Weather. Hmm, armpit hair, that's true. A clogged drain is kinda gross, but it's unmistakeable.
If you saw a pelt of a bear or some animal would you think it was an item of that pelt, or would that seem like it might be representative.pf body hair?
yeah, I guess I kinds blew my topic posting when I listed all the things that are "not" . Maybe a pelt is the way to go.
Well, that depends on HOW much body hair you're talking about. My hubby has quite a bit of hair, but I wouldn't consider him Bear per se. He's under that threshold in my personal opinion. I'm not 100% positive it would be accepted, but a bust with a bear pelt on it with a name along the lines of 'Hair of the wild man' or something might be accepted??
