Hello world!
Yes, I run track. I am not the world's most talented runner, but I work hard and I try my hardest. I'm improving little by little, and that's all I can ask for.
But tomorrow we have a meet. The first meet of the season, I was signed up for the 4 by 800 and the mile, but on the second 400 of my 800 leg, my hamstring popped and I fell off the track. My team was disqualified.
My coach wants me to run in the relay again, but this time as anchor, last leg, whatever you'd like to call it. I'm VERY nervous. Not only because I'm afraid of a repeat performance, but also because I know we will come in last. We are a DIII school going against 6 DI schools. Getting in last isn't a problem, but I just don't like the feeling of letting my relay team down. As the anchor, I feel a lot of pressure.
Any advice?
Danke!
Oh, you're making me remember my old track days!
I wouldn't stress it too much, I know that I used to get so nervous over these things that my stomach would go all funky right before I ran, and I was in distance too, so I would panic even more that I'd feel sick AS I ran the whole thing. I'm sure no one blames you over your fall, they know you didn't mean to purposely fall off the track. I know that as soon as I began running all of that nervous energy just disappeared and I felt so much better. Just think, two laps and you're done!
