I am so super excited. I adore the Jurassic park movie (and its sequel, the Lost World*), and it is going to be super rad on the big screen again -- and in IMAX 3D! I am going to see it Saturday and I'm going to wear my JP logo shirt for the event!

Anyone else excited about this? Anyone want to just chat about the movies (except the third one. That one doesn't really exist.) ?

(* I don't care what you say; The Lost World was good for a sequel. And it had more Jeff Goldblum. What is not to like?!)

EDIT: And there, I made an Ian Malcom avatar for the event. Hurr

I'm very excited! I've watched this movie more times than I can count and I'm not usually a big 3D fan, but this is the exception.

I think when I originally watched the 3 movies, I was so young that I didn't really notice the quality of them... I was just like "Yay dinosaurs." Like most people probably are, lol. Then I got older, read the first book and for some reason the third movie still doesn't bother me. I guess I'm lucky!

I'm super excited, as you already know. ;D I probably won't get to go for a few weeks yet, but I'm really looking forward to it. I never saw it in theaters originally (I was one year old P: ), so this is going to be an amazing experience for sure.

And I know what you mean about the third movie haha. I liked some parts of it, but the progression of Alan and Ellie's relationship was so... disappointing. 8( I just didn't find myself loving all the characters in the second and third movies like I did the first.

SO EXCITED. 8D I'm going to see it tonight with friends!

...and I'm probably going to be totally insufferable by pretending I'm a raptor once I get home or something, lol. Ah, but I remember the first time I saw it (on laserdisc because I'm an old fogey) and I was all scared of them and hiding under a giant littlefoot plush. Good times.

Edit: ditto on the third movie though! But I still like the phone ringer/jingle though: "Kirby Paint and Tile Plus in Westgate~"

also you guys have the best avatars! Are we talking about just the movies or the books by the way? Because I never finished the books and the only thing I can say is that I like movie!Hammond loads better than book!Hammond. XD

Lol thanks! 8D

I actually did try to read the original book recently, but I found that I wasn't a fan of it. It wasn't as much like the movie as I had expected, so I eventually just put it down and never finished. P:

Yeah, I'm not really a big Michael Crichton fan lol. Also, I had to do the laugh sounds from your forumset aloud to realize that it was a transcription and I just about died. XD

I'm really looking forward to this though! I think my favorite characters from Jurassic Park and Lost World are Muldoon and in the second the big game hunter, Roland. Who all do you guys like best?

LOL isn't that laugh the literal best?

Aw I loved Muldoon too. He was awesome. My favorite character is... probably very obviously Alan Grant. P: Ellie and Ian come in tied for second place. Pretty much all the characters have a place in my heart though. The only one I'm not a big fan of is Lex, which I think has to do with her earsplitting screams. :P As far as the dinos go, the Brachiosaurs were my favorite by far.

Yeah I remember thinking Lex was annoying because she couldn't tell the difference between carnivores and herbivores and she's 13, and I know that's at least been covered by science courses in school a little. I love love love the main three though, and Tim and Alan's dynamic was simply the most adorable ever :3

I really like the raptors in both movies because they're just so sinister! Also, the dilophosaurus (and incidently swans) recently became twice as scary for me, because I read that it's hissing sound effect was just...a swan. Seriously, everything else was mixed animal sounds, but the scariest noise ever is just one animal. Clearly, this is even more proof that birds come from dinos lol.

I saw it today in IMAX 3D and ASFAFSDHGADF IT WAS THE BEST THING EVER! IMAX WAS MADE TO SHOW THIS FILM! ;w; IF YOU HAVE AN IMAX NEAR YOU, GO SEE THIS MOVIE NOW!

I think it is only going to be in theaters for a week! I hope you get a chance to see it! By the way, I love your GIF! Ahahahahhahahah!

Thanks for the avatar compliment! I haven't read the books yet, but I really want to. I might need to go to the library this week! And my favorite character is Ian Malcolm, hands down. I'm a huge Jeff Goldblum fan in the first place, but his character is just so smarmy and awesome. Muldoon is pretty rad, though, too. As for dinos, raptors are my favorite! T-Rexes are a close second, just because their roar is beautiful. ;w;

Yay! I hope you get to see it. It's amazing in IMAX 3D!

This is DEFINITELY an exception! The 3D was done beautifully, and was in no way gimmicky or low quality, like most new 3D movies. Seeing it in IMAX is definitely a plus!

I just got back too! It was A-MAZ-ING. I got a headache from the 3D but it was soooo worth it because they did it so well. After it was over I wanted to watch the 2nd one again because Ian is so hilarious in the first one and how can you go wrong with more smarmy rockstar mathematician? Jeff Goldblum ftw. "And here I am sitting by myself, talking to myself. That's chaos theory," is probably one of my top favorite movie lines.

And the T-Rex roar is sooo pretty. I think my favorite thing about the T-Rex is how they managed to get the water to ripple like that since I saw an exhibit in Universal Studios once. They used guitar strings under the dashboard! Even after 20 years, Jurassic Park is still so awesome!

@ norfie Oh darn 8| Guess I better go soon then. Thanks for letting me know!

ETA: Omg, I saw it in IMAX yesterday. It looked beautiful; to see such an iconic movie on a huge theater screen was completely indescribable. The 3D was really really good -- I can't say how good it would be out of IMAX, but what I saw was wonderful. Not gimmicky at all, and only enhanced an already beautiful movie. I recommend anyone go see it if they're able!
