Today I noticed my cat was limping, so I went outside to check on him and see what was up, and I found a puncture wound on his shoulder. My mom immediately called the vet, and explained the situation, and they said to watch him tonight, then bring him in first thing in the morning.

Now that the immediate panic is over, I am wondering how I am supposed to get him in his carrier. He is hurt and doesn't really want me getting anywhere near his shoulder. I would just carefully pick him up and put him in the car, but he will panic in the car, so I think it would be best to put him in a carrier for safe transportation. How can I get him into the carrier without hurting him? This is a bit of a stubborn cat.

Leave the carrier out, and put food and/or treats in the very back to coax him in there. Once he's in, snap the door shut as quickly as possible. Try something really enticing, like bits of chicken or tuna (but not too much, and don't leave it sitting if he is being especially stubborn).

If he still won't go in, you might just have to cause him a little extra pain to get him in there. Put the crate with the door facing up, and lower him down into it. That's what I have to do sometimes with one of my cats when she's being a brat.
