Is the wishing shrub just for Peka-boo or will it reappear on other holidays like Luminaire or valentines? I think it would be cute to have a christmas tree and a candy heart decorated valentines tree :3

I'm pretty sure it is only a Peka Boo thing.

I could take it or leave it really, I think the novelty will wear off soon.

Peka-Boo might be a bi-annual thing though. Somewhat similar to EpiCon maybe, so this might not be the last time we see it. Either way, I'm not having much fun with the wishing shrub right now.

We already have a way to gift people for Luminaire, and it works a hell of a lot better than this imo.

I would hate to see it as a more regular part of the site personally.

I don't know. I think it could stay. It's not that much different than those "give a wishlist item to the person above" threads, only this is anonymous and you pick which one you want to give.

I would prefer not to have this bleed over into other events. There have been a lot of gripes about it so far and I think the other events are fine as is.

People are accountable on giveaway threads though and no one wishes for unbuyables when it's not anonymous. I agree that we already have better methods of gifting people.

I really like the shrub. I'd love to see a lumineve variant that was a bit more open, e.g.: everyone gets to make one wish of an item which they can change as often as they like until it's granted, and there are no achievements (or a very low tier) for granting them - nor do you have to grant one to get one. That way people wouldn't feel forced to grant stupidly expensive wishes.

That said, I like the shrub as it is now. I've really enjoyed this part of the event, and so glad that I randomly broke my half-year hiatus just as it started.

With some fixes in place (mostly just some barrier to people wishing for unbuyables/extremely expensive items) I'd be okay with the shrub becoming a regular thing. It's a really nice idea, it's just that people are abusing it.

The issue in barring "extremely expensive items" is that average price doesn't work-- there is no way of tracking what is "too expensive."

That said, I have honestly enjoyed the shrub and would love to see it again.

If the shrub stays, it needs tweaks. Some sort of cap, or way to restrain the people who clog up the system. It's really frustrating to see the shrub filled up with wishes that won't be granted knowing there are people who haven't been able to make a wish.

Maybe set a time limit for wishes. One wish per day per person, with a time limit. If your wish could be on the shrub for only 2 hours per day, then you might lower your expectations. You'd be faced with asking for something people are likely to give, or maybe getting nothing at all.

I live in MN, and whatever you've heard... It's much worse.

Well, it would be easy to weed out some stuff -- Millionaire Center items that are over a certain amount, legendary weapons, CSC cards over 100, etc. It would be pretty hard to catch everything (I assume; I don't know ANYTHING about coding or websites), but it would be possible to at least narrow things down.

What if it comes back with usernames revealed in some way? Like after the wish has been granted or something idk. I think some of the more problematic aspects are stemming from the veil of anonymity.

It needs a lot of changes if it stays, I'm not entirely against it coming back at some point but... probably not right now. I think achievements collectors that dropped a small fortune there, thinking that it would be a seasonal thing, would feel ripped off if it just kept running n_n Sure, the achievement could be retired with the shrub itself remaining, but yeah, I think it would need to be off until they figured out the best way to fix it x:

No achievements (or minimal achievements) and, at the very least, more shrub "wish slots" would be needed, plus probably a price sort of some kind. Maybe even have those "wish slots" equally divided by price sections. I could see it working out eventually, it'd take a little bit of working out (and coding) though.

Overall I love anonymous boxes, gifting threads and Luminaire trees c: With the amount of things that needs to be fixed around -urgently-, I don't think I would even want the shrub to get so much attention this soon :/

If it stuck around all year, I'm very confident the novelty of it would wear off and after a few weeks no one would touch it (like the gift swap option, or item bombing features in the Arctic Frost...). Unless of course there were high achievements put into place after the event (Peka-Boo's retiring still), and even then people would either put it off, find a way to get around the wishes (giving ridiculous things to their friends via wish then getting the item back once a day, etc), or tackle it and be done forever.

I wouldn't mind something to this effect return, though, like a festive wishing shrub during December would be nice but... really, I don't know how many people out there are actually having FUN with this?

I mean I know the angry people tend to be louder than those who enjoy something, but it seems like 10% of the userbase enjoy the shrub and are having a nice time either gifting strangers (total strangers, unlike anon boxes where only one side is anon), or just giving up things they don't really need in exchange for stuff they really want-- and then 90% of the userbase wants staff executed Witch Hunt style. With the flames being fed by the wishing shrub itself.

If this really is the case, then I think the achievement hunters have soured this entire concept and it should be put to rest after this event is over.
