Maybe just wait until its fully grown and then try it with plain chicken. Then you'll have an idea of the taste.

Well im trying to figure out if it's for like sauces, pesto,or what..Ive never used fresh basil of any kind..Im used to dry regular basil.I use a lot of pasta like penne and angel hair.I just add my store bout dried basil to my jar sauce and call it dinner/lunch.Im trying to cut down my food cost by growing things.Like basil and lettuce leaves.Im open to making my own sauces but I need to know how 1st.I took 6 years of cooking classes in school but we never made our own sauce. Not enough time since class was like a 30 minute a day class. So prep-time and cooking time ate our class time up.

Im also looking into growing tomatoes indoors from seeds.Id love fresh cucumbers im doing research on them to see if I can grow them indoors.

Make a simple pesto with it, just the leaves & a splash of Olive oli. Once thats done taste it and then try it with the chicken. The best way to learn what goes with what is to try it!

So I've done some googling,

"Delightfully lemony and citrusy, delicious taste of lemon and a very prominent crisp clean lemon scent."

"Holy crap. Lemon basil! I knew it was lemon basil, but I didn’t know in was going to taste like lemon basil. Which is to say, not like basil at all. It was lemony and sharp and almost minty. This was not going to work for pesto at all. And I have three pots of it. We are looking up recipes for lemon basil and I guess we are going to become adept at preparing Indonesian dishes."

Also they suggest Mojitos which I bet would be fucking delicious. Or Muddle some and add Lemonade!

be a few weeks before my lime basil is ready to harvest.I have no blender or food processor..So that kinda limits what I can do..

I guess i could try saving up for a blender but it would take awhile..Got a lot of repairs and things to do..I know I can freeze basil in freezer bags..I know im going to have a lot of leaves..Also got large leaf basil gave to me..can't plant it till I get lime basil moved.Only got 1 seed tray. It's homemade made from egg carton took needle that was broke jabbed drain holes in bottom.Cheap and easy.

I've also read that it's good with fish. And as mentioned before, goes well with things like lemonade or cocktails. I guess it'd be best to use it in dishes/with meats that lemon or lime goes well with. Also, as for making your own sauces, I'm sure there are a ton of recipes online that can teach you how, and you just have to experiment with recipes and ingredients. Allrecipes.com is great.

You should also invest in some plain basil if you ever get the chance. My family has a garden and basil grows wonderfully, and we can use it in the winter since freezing is great for preserving it.

um I have LIME NOT lemon basil..

I have a electric skillet and electric crockpot that doubles as a boiler but that's it for now.Stove and oven are off till I can afford to fill propane tank..Might be 3 more months before I can do so.

are marinades just for grilling?

Lemon and lime basil are similar in taste.

You can use the electric skillet to kind of pan sear something, I'm sure.

mmm. fresh basil smells wonderful. pasta sauce is super easy to make, though: a can of diced tomatoes, a can of tomato paste, and some water are all you really need to make it. then add your herbs and vegetables to it, of course. i usually use basil, bay leaves, oregano, sage, thyme, rosemary (just a little; even the dried stuff is potent), minced garlic, salt, pepper, and a little bit of lemon juice to bring out the flavour of the tomato, with onions, mushrooms, zucchini, and whatever else i happen to have on hand. just boil the sauce for a while and taste it occasionally until you get the flavour how you want it. if it's too tart, you can tone it down with honey (i usually use the orange blossom honey i get at the local farmer's market if it have it; it adds an orangey floral flavour that goes quite well in it). you can also use balsamic vinegar in it if you want. seriously, just experiment a bit. if you've got the ingredients, homemade pasta sauce is one of the easiest things to make. you could also probably use your crock pot to make it; it'll just take a bit longer. you could even boil your pasta in the sauce if you wanted to; that way the flavour seeps into the pasta itself.
