So hey Subeta, its been a while. Like a year almost. :O In this past year I feel like I've matured quite a bit. I joined the military in December, and I had to do my taxes on my own for the first time this year! It's also my 19th birthday today, so that makes me feel like an adult too!
So subeta, what has happened recently to make you feel like you've matured/grown up?
Woo hoo!
Congrats!
I'm still in high school, so I've still got quite a ways to "mature," but I recently earned my first paycheck of $400.
It made me feel warm and fuzzy inside. :3
My first paycheck made me feel pretty awesome too. Its funny because sometimes I feel like I've matured, then I go up my stair on all fours, so that throws things out the window x)
LOL
Sadly I don't have a job yet, I don't think I'll be able to handle the stress.
I earned the money by attending a really cool STEM program at a college my sister refers to as: "The Harvard of the South."
AKA Rice U.
Happy Birthday! :)
I rented my first apartment this month, and because of that I've had to deal with doing many new things... Definitely something that makes me feel more mature. :D
Happy birthday! :D
I got my own insurance this year. Granted, it's through the government and is 'free' (for low-income people), but I still had to go apply for it and select which one I wanted, and make my appointment with my doctor, etc. I also helped my friend get the same insurance and helped her through getting it all applied and done for, so I felt really smart and adult-y doing that, lol.
I left uni in May and I'm starting my new job on Saturday, full time retail slave! I'm actually really excited to be earning a solid and consistent income and plan for the future (I don't mean like housing and marriage and 'real' adult stuff; I'm talking travelling the world and enjoying the rest of my youth!)
Growing up is a double edged sword; on the one hand you have the full freedom to do as you please, and as you earn and save money more options are available to you - however, with adulthood comes responsibility and commitment on a level that I can't really compare to adolescence. I am nostalgic for my teen years, but recently I feel I'm ready to grow up I think (but I totally had Peter Pan syndrome for the last couple o' years!)
Well I'm 22, so I've technically been an adult for a while ;< It really hit home the past two months though: I got a new job, moved further from my family, just passed my driving test and bought a car, and have a lover that's 7 years older than me.
I feel too old for clubs now... like it's all 18-20 year olds. Still got ID'd when buying a pack of cooks matches though, pffff. I suppose the restriction went from 16 to 18 here.
