Do they ever go away?

Like expire or something?

Just wondering...

All depends on how serious the warning is. If it's just a verbal warning they usually get taken off your record after either a few months or a year or something along those lines. I think you can also file a ticket and submit an inquiry about a warning and it could be taken care of that way.

Yikes!

you can see how many warnings you have on your User Dashboard unless they're verbal warnings. Two verbal warnings count as one warning. If you are interested in knowing what verbal warnings you have and how long it's been for each you have to file a Ticket in Help. Last I knew, you could petition a verbal warning to get removed after one year. No guarantees that it would be removed or not, but you could ask.

I've been told, but do not know, that sometimes regular old warnings can be eventually erased, depending on how bad they are. "How bad they are" is not something we users can know though, so again you'd need to file a Ticket in Help to see for sure.

We only get one account here, so if I were you I'd ask anyways just to be very sure- that way you can increase your chances of not running afoul of anything more by knowing exactly where to be the most careful..

I've only got two so far, but I need five to get banned.

I'm in good shape at the moment.

Thanks for your concern!

Here's how they work: Verbal- Tells you what you did wrong so you have a chance to watch yourself to avoid a official warning. Official- Either this means you repeated an offense that you got a verbal for OR you did something that warrants an immediate warning.

Both types you can make a ticket for to find out the exact situation that earned it for you. In some cases they can even be taken off as mistakes can be made in the shuffle of things if something big was happening.

The ones you've earned that won't be taken away typically do get removed after a year of that official warning. Simply making a ticket to have it looked into can get them updated. So say you have 4 but earned 2 your first year here and you've been here 3 years. Make a ticket and talk about what can be essentially disregarded for the 5 and you're out rule. So then you get told 2 of the 4 can be dropped. So now you know you're down to 2 and not 4, but because you've earned 4 and there's no way to adjust the number it'll always say 4 in the user dashboard, even if in another year you've gotten the other 2 dropped making it 0 the 4 will still stick around until (or if ever) they figure out how to make a system to track them better.

Well also remember they are more likely to help you to stay on the site if your offenses are like pictures that are too big pixel-wise and lighter stuff VS oh say scamming or deceiving other users intentionally. So if you do make a ticket to talk about your actual numbers that count make sure you know what ones are dropped and what ones are sticking around. And of course take any as a point of learning and watching yourself in any situation(s) that earned you any warnings. And also the ticket system is great to get staff answers on something you may not know a clear answer for and is a safer bet than not knowing.

I know this is probably useless since it's been answered already but here's my experience with this: I received a verbal warning and filed a ticket immediately questioning it and explaining myself, after about a week (guess the queue was backed up) I was contacted and told that the warning was legit and I couldn't get it removed until next year. Then they asked if I wanted them to see if there was any warnings that could be removed, and I said yes, so then they removed a verbal warning I received a few years back. I guess you could expect a similar process :)
