I've done overlays in the past for my pets and some people but I haven't done any in months so I'm rusty. This also the first time I'm redrawing body parts.

I made a new pet recently, named Cheerilee (if you watch MLP you will notice the similarities)

My reference:

My WIP:

I'm trying to make it similar to the reference, but while keeping it Subeta style. And adding a bit of creativity. :B

Cute!! i think the head could use a few tweaks to make it a little more similar to the reference picture, click, but i personally don't watch the show myself so feel free to disregard. xD Good luck!

I need all the help I can get with this haha. I'm not really good with animal anatomy. Cartoon or not, I would still like to keep the subeta style with this. I'll go ahead and do what your reference has since I think that looks super. <3

Just from a quick glance, you're probably going to want to add the line for the body/neck between the front legs, to indicate that the far leg is, in fact, far.

Other suggestions I have are to mind the light source (from the front right of the image) to avoid flattening the "pillow" shading, which is happening a little on the body/face. It might be helpful to you to look at pictures of actual horses/ponies for where muscles would be in shading, since the MLP reference will not be useful.

I'd also either shade the mane to make the roots/neck visible or dip them, since the shape is currently lending a thickness I don't think you intended.

The back hooves, based on the Legacia's stance, should both be flat on the ground.

I'd be happy to red-line your WIP to show what I mean, but I wanted to make sure that was okay with you, first.

Yeah, I was considering opening a image of a horse to get a basic idea. The thickness isn't intended. So thank you for that advice!

I didn't notice that, I'll go ahead and fix the back hooves.

Oh please feel free to red line! I have absolutely no problem with it. <3

I did a bit of redlining in terms of MLP style mixed with Subeta... besides the legs and the back of the hair, the other parts are kind of suggestions. I do think making the hair bigger around the ears is more MLP, but I don't really know if the curved muzzle will work out at all.

I hope this helps illustrate what I was talking about above, but of course you should ultimately do what you like, since she's your pet.

Thank you so much for that. It's going to help big time.

I will add my own little details over time. I just want to make sure she looks good. :B
