Obviously, as a user, I don't know what the plans are for the Bake Shop, but if things remain as they are, I think it would be a good idea to retire the items that used to be produced in the Bake Shop since they are no longer attainable.
Shop search claims that the shop has items in stock as well. If no one is going to run the shop, though, perhaps this should be removed?
I know that these items are causing trouble for some users, because they are still asked for in quests.
What do you all think?
but then they won't vend! and all the pretty pastries and such wouldn't be attainable at all ):
I do wonder why they didn't retire the baked goods just yet. Unless they have plans to reopen the bake shop some time soon, it doesn't make sense to make items that are nearly retired (as in, the only way they can come into the economy now is through quest prizes since I am pretty sure celebration gift doesn't vend them) to be asked for on quests. Until they reopen the bake shop, it seems to me like it would only be logical to temporarily retire them (or permanently retire them if they don't plan on reopening the bake shop).

Grouse and MrCool have some sound points which I would've raised if they weren't already aforementioned. I've personally wondered the same, as it is unclear if the Bake Shop's closing is transient, or permanent.
I'm 99% certain that Fantine is going to cure and come back. :P There's a reason Elsie is manning the Half Baked shop, and not Fantine.
That's what I was thinking also. I hope it's soon, too, I miss buying from there. (;
- I didn't think that they were vended at all (except a few by keyword). If they are vended somewhere, let me know! Although is right that you could possibly still get them as quest prizes. Maybe it's worthwhile to do a bunch of Pete quests to try and get my hands on some delicious baked goods. =9
- I really would like to know what is going on. I feel like we're in limbo. The shop is closed, but the items are still restocking, and not retired. It just leaves me confused. If they retire the items, everyone gets a strong message that the Bake Shop will not be reopening (at least not soon). Otherwise, we need an update and a shopkeeper!
- I hope that someone gets to work at the Bake Shop, but the plot is over (I think?), and the shop has gone from "moved to the underground" to "this shop is closed!", which is also used for invalid shop numbers. I think made a good suggestion, that perhaps it should be a temporary retirement until (if/when) the Bake Shop is reopened.
