kitty with inmates

I actually think this is a great idea... and kind of wonder why more prisons haven't thought of it. It teaches them responsibility and all that stuff about taking care of another organism.

I've seen a few prisons on lockup that show kitty programs, they really do help the prisoners...unless you screw with their cat then they're gonna shank you dang good lol

Aw, I think that is a good idea. That was such a cute kitty and this seems to be helping people.

The thought of some cat-hating prisoner having to share a small, enclosed space with an aggressive, bitey cat is hilarious.

I love this idea. I'm all for using rescue animals to help with rehabilitation in either jail or parole.

It's a pretty ingenious idea.. animal love is pretty unconditional and many prisoners come from less than ideal conditions so giving them an animal that loves them unconditionally without reservations is the perfect rehabilitation strategy.

Aw, that's adorable :P My shelter does something similar with dogs called "second chance pups" where inmates get to take care of dogs and train them so they can get adopted in the real world. They even have little 'graduations' for the dogs and even the wildest of dogs always come back more friendly and calm.

I think this is a really exceptional thing to do. They have nothing but time, and time is exactly what these cats, and other pets that need to be rehabbed, need. Time heals wounds, and with care, energy spent, and patience, it's been shown over and over again that animals with no chances of success can be returned to happy and healthy once more.

I really hope that when I snap and go on a rampage that they will give me a kitten of my own. (Obviously I like this whole idea)

Awesome. I'm in support of animal/human rehab like this- it's gotten a lot of success and seems to be the perfect thing to do with unwanted pets.

I was reading about this somewhere :D I think its so great. and cute. I wonder if sometime in the future they'll let the inmate pick out of a variety of animal.. dog, cat, bunny rabbit. etc. or w.e E: <3
