I've never actually used the trade center before, but I wanted to try it. Unfortunately, abbreviations are my kryponite. I keep seeing all these trades with 'res' in the description. Is that short for reserved?
Any other abbreviations I should know? Thanks. :)
'Res' typically means reserved
Some others are pretty basic
'Pure' = sP
'obo' = Or best offer
Because shops can sell items up to 50MsP, Trades are not huge here. The place for the selling user to put the description is not small, so there's little reason for them to abbreviate really.
If you're not sure what someone means, ask.
No problem :) I've found that the Trading Center is really helpful when your struggling to sell something.
Yup, that's where I'm at. I accidentally bought an extra Long Blue Scarf from the Blue Building, and it won't sell. I figured I'd try to trade it for some easier-to-sell items before simply slashing the price.
access to the Blue Building is not that unusual for a user to have, and gaining the 100 BBP to buy that item is a matter of a few days of quests. So the current price in Shop Search doesn't even come close to the real price of time and sP someone would have to pay to get this item themselves.
If you hover over this item you can see that the "average price today" is around a half million. It just so happens in this instance, that IMO this price is enough that it's worth re-selling ot make sP but not so much taht if you wanted it you would be unwilling ot readily pay it. 3.5M...not so much. Current stats for Subeta (at the bottom of each page there's a tiny link 'about subeta' ) show the average user has 11MsP, and of all the peoples here, those who have that or more probably already have access.
If you're curious about price variations, the Item Directory Building in Centropolis has many (but not all) items with a six month history.
I know, that's why I'm trying to trade it instead. I figure two people negotiating will come closer to the real value than the numbers from the shop search.
How is the 'average' price determined? I used to think it was an average of what people were paying when they bought it from a user shop, but it's frequently different from the amount people are trying to sell it for.
ah well, "real value"....this doesn't concern me much, honestly. I sell for what sells within the time I'm willing to wait to get that price, compared to how tough it would be for me to acquire more of whatever it is I'm selling. If it doesn't work, I drop the price until it does sell.
TPTB aren't telling how the hover values are calculated. I have a very big shop, and I have an idea. My guess is that Average Price is on a delay of about four to six weeks. Unlike the locked-in communist block black market of a place like Neopets, the prices of things here change all the time. So if there's a difference between the price people are paying today and the hover values.
The items "left in shops" are a better name IMO for the "prices people are trying to sell it for". That's exactly it. They're trying. If they succeeded, the item'd be sold. Therefore whatever the ..."real value"... cough... of something might be if the item is at all rare, it's a number less-than-that.
Wow, you've got this market stuff down to a philosophy.
While this has nothing to do with the topic at hand, I must ask: why do you have an apple glued to your face?
this site's toy economy allows you to choose how to play, so yes, I do get a kick out of fiddling with my shop and restocking. It's just as easy to play games for your sP or to Vend or Trade or to stalk the BHH, if you like. Anyhoo, I hope it was a little helpful and not me ranting.
The apple is floating like the hat is. The apple and hat are both afterMagritte, who is more modern than the Braque-ish cubist backdrop I'm wearing. On top of that, the butterflies are a CW and the magic circle is a CS Trunk wear, that I'm wearing just to make the whole thing just that skoosh more random.
No, it was very helpful, thank you. :)
Ooooh, ok. Makes sense, I suppose, since you are in formalwear with green flippers.
