Whenever a Free Gift is made available that refers to something in pop culture, does it always mean the person who made that pop culture icon (or is that pop culture icon) died? I loved the Wolf Kid pajamas - and then I realized Maurice Sendak died. The same thing was done earlier this year with Whitney Houston.
Now I'll be scared when a future Free Gift is a reference to one of my favourite rock stars or actors..... :'( It means they will have died too!
99.9% of the time yes. There are free items that aren't tributes that are occasionally released, and there have been a few non death tribute items. But yeah, most of the time it's for a death
That's a terrible way of looking at it but absolutely true. Maybe they should do some tribute items for great people that are still alive?
LOL, that would be nice XD. I'm sure there have been a few in the past, but it's kind of sad that someone dies and Subeta's users think "oooh I guess a new free item"
It's the other way around for me, I see a new free gift and think "guess someone important died today" and then proceed to find out who. It's kinda depressing...
That too! here is a list of ALL THE FREE GIFTS
Some of the more positive free gifts (they aren't all bad lol): - Pokemon meme-ish (at 4:42) - During a live chat kept saying 'colt' instead of 'cult' - Staff member got married ...and more that are related to site events (Pandemic, Fireside...)
Yeah, those are some of the happier ones, they always make smile when they are released, especially the colt one
As...morbid as it may seem..I guess it's a Subeta tradition in a way? Vidal Sassoon died yesterday, and they didn't do one. I was expecting some kind of hair dryer wearable or something. So yeah, some of us do expect a free item after a death XD
I remember two famous people died around the same time, and Subeta did a free item for one death, and some users wanted an item for the other celebrity that died.
