I'm in the middle of a terrible Sinus infection. Second time this year, go figure.
I've gotten rid of the fever and the body aches, what is left is the unbearable headache. Any tips? I've been taking liquid Mucinex for Sinuses but I don't think it's doing much.
I suffer from sinus infections almost every time I get over a cold because I have really bad sinuses to begin with. The only way to get rid of an infection is with antibiotics. I would go see your doctor and confirm that it is a sinus infection and not something else and get antibiotics. I usually get a Z-pack since it's only for 5 days and clears everything up
a friend of mine swears by nasal irrigation. I'm only taking nasal sprays and try to drink my 3L/day. And as always: if self-medication doesn't work get antibiotics as [userWesker] said.
Thank you ^^ I've always wondered about that, but does it hurt? It looks like the nasal irrigation would.
Thank you as well!
I don't think it hurts, it may just feel strange since you rinse your nose with salty water and you have to get the water somehow inside it. But if I remember correctly you only put your head horizontal over a sink and squeeze the water container so that the water will flow into your upper nostril, take a round through your sinus and come out of the lower nostril (and the other way round) °-°
I've started with Nasal irrigation when I had a bacillus rhinitis gone wild last year. It was so cruel I lost my voice for about a week and my paranasal sinuses have been infected too. Even my ears were itching like mad! My ENT physician told me to do them and at first I was really afraid but then I did it and it was as disgusting as helpful. It was a strange feeling to have the water in the nose but it is even possible to breathe through the mouth normally while doing it. It was nasty to see all that stuff coming out of my nose but it soothed the pain immediately and I was able to breathe normally again and even got some healthy sleep later. I used a common nasal irrigation device back then but later I acquired a neti pot and I use it regularly now to guard against reinfections which worked fine till now. I have to say that using a traditional neti pot is far more comfortable than using those modern devices. But in general I can say if you use the products you can get in the pharmacy there's not much that can go wrong but it is essential that you use the special salts which were offered at the pharmacies and the temperature of the water equals your body temperature. The salts are meant to imitate the liquids your body produce to moisten the nose and if you don't use them the pure water will hurt.
Oooo thank you for the helpful advice, I think I may have to try it out.
Totally sounds weird hahaha, thank you again
