I think there should be a button to report a user via their profile for misusing subeta in whatever way such as shoutbox, spamming, etc. Rather than having to file a ticket for someone being a general nuisance in the sb and spamming, you could go to the profile - click report - type what you are reporting them for - send - viola!

In my opinion - it would make it less tedious for the mods/admins and easier for them to go through logs for that day around that specific time to see whether or not the report was accurate or false.

Also, a block button on the user profiles would be nice as well.

We have report posts on the forums. It would make a lot more sense for the SB since a log is now kept. You got support with that.

that's also a great suggestion knockout - I haven't been able to use the gears for some reason o.O but still. Both could actually be implemented just to save time for the mods.

Yes to everything here since obviously mods aren't always able to be around as was the case today even though things are supposed to be better in the shoutbox.

I just think that overall Subeta is not really safe. The blocking feature lack of sense to me. You block, but if it isn't mutual the user can still see you (it doesn't make sense if it's for your security).

Though, I don't get the "block button on profile". Do you mean to literally block the user? The feature for blocking is already here .. not sure if it's something that people would like to see.

the block button would block the person from contacting you or viewing your profile, not permanently block them from the site because, well, that's for the mods to decide not other users. It literally would only prevent the person from contacting you, you wouldn't see messages from them whatsoever and if they tried to ping/smail you they would get an error message. It is both for your safety as well as a way to ignore an otherwise irritating user (i.e - someone who is bothering you, spamming, etc.)

The one major problem I see with this is custom profiles. If you put a report button on the profile, people could remove it and if you make it non-removable, it would likely mess up profiles that people may have spent millions on buying.

A feature like this, that sometimes exists, sometimes doesn't, would, in my opinion, be worse than not having it at all. People get used to using the button, then run into a profile that has edited it out and don't know how to report (or block) and so give up.

I don't use the shoutbox, but I think 's suggestion applies to adding a report button to the shoutbox itself? If so, that makes more sense.

Why? You can report any of this through a ticket.

I don't really use the SB so I didn't even know it lacked a direct report button. Totally support that! Personally screening things all the time is such a bothersome, unnecessary step especially if there are logs being kept.

About a block button in profiles (I imagine something like the "mail user" and "send buddy request"), I don't think it's very necessary... you can just go to your friends page, click block list and type their username x: At least outside the SB, one-click blocking doesn't seem to be a big need for people, but if it's a big need inside the SB then I'd say add a block option to the gear icon :/ Two options then, "Report post" and "Block user".

I'm against this. This is screaming "abuse" to me. If you make it so easy to report people, users will start to do so because of every tiny, little complaint they have. And even if they don't find something to complain about, they just make something up for users they don't like.

If they have to go over the ticket, they have to deal with real people and are far less likely to do so if they just want to throw someone under the bus. They are far less likely to lie too, if they have to face a real person and not just an auto function.

If you want to report someone, get some balls.

First of all, what's the harm if someone you've blocked can view your profile? They still cannot contact you on Subeta and, if they harass you elsewhere, either ignore it or report/block them on there.

Second, it's not hard to just take a screenshot of the SB to include in a report.

There's no reason to add this. We already have a way to report people and it works just fine.

I agree that Shoutbox posts should have a similar report function as the one for forum posts.

Profile report is overkill though and filing a ticket the standard way more than suffices for that. [edit] To clarify, these suggested links should lead to the ticket center.

I don't see a problem with adding report buttons, but I think it should still default to a ticket. We don't need to make it easier to spam-report or something like that, but I'm all for making it more easily accessible (especially in the SB).

I have to agree with as that was also my first too. I love the feeling Subeta has, yes, there are rules, but it also an open community that is supportive and kind; tacking on a report button on someone's profile seems to go against that feeling of being open and supportive...It would seem more deconstructive than constructive.

However, I have to agree with the shout box could really use this feature.
