I don't know if this is the right forum or not, though I have no clue where else it would go, but here's my rant for today.

Today, I was bullied because I have a different view than someone else. In a group on another website, a thread was created about me, for people to bully me and call me names, because I don't have the same view as them on something.

Might I add that the person who created the thread (and everyone who participated in it) was a woman. Now I know women can be spiteful, but these were grown women creating a thread to bully another woman because she has a different belief than them.

Doesn't that sound a bit disrespectful and childish? Is this really how women act nowadays? These women couldn't even debate with me over the matter. Despite the fact that they disagreed with me, they refused to provide any of their own evidence on the matter, they simply bullied and harassed me.

I've seen this a lot lately. Instead of actually debating with someone on their issue and providing sources of information that give their claims credibility, people choose to call names and bully/harass people, and I'm very tired of it.

I don't know, I guess it depends on what exactly they were bullying you about. And what was said/if it was potentially harmful to other people? But yeah, it would be helpful to give evidence, if they're trying to prove something. I'm not sure what to say exactly, since I'm not sure what the argument was about. (:

Giving evidence and proving a point takes time and intelligence, something that some people don't have. If they didn't take the time to properly research their side of the argument or at least know something about it before opening their mouth (or keyboard as the case may be) then they really don't have the right to just spout off and be bitches. Ignore them. I wouldn't give them the time of day, or if I did, it'd be the wrong time.

I wound up on SubetaSpeaks as a topic of discussion and ridicule. One thing I've learned online is no one is ever completely happy.

Sometimes, it's just best to ignore people like that.

Some people are insane on the internet. I've seen it on lots of sites where people gang up on someone for little to no reason. It's definitely happened to me before.

I still hate the person who targeted me on the internet years ago. I was barely even a teenager and these people were late 20's early 30's women attacking my intelligence and physical appearance. How immature and displeased with your life do you have to be in order to attack a stranger on the internet who is literally half your age? Sad. And jealous, because I'm a sexy bitch. ;)

Lmao, this really sounds like subetaspeaks. I used to enjoy the snarkiness until I realized it's a bunch of 20 (and 30!)-somethings behaving like they're in Mean Girls and constantly blowing a gasket over a petsite. It really stuns me sometimes.

Basically the internet is a crazy place, and people behave in ways they never would otherwise. Shitty people you would never meet or associate with are suddenly in direct contact with you. So when people get me down I like to remember that 99% of the people I know in real life are absolutely nothing like that >:

Ah, that sucks. The internet is full of crazies and people with no lives. These are the people that go on to do things like this. Makes them happy to make someone else miserable. It's not right, but that's the way things are.

Yes, I agree with you. It was very childish...

My condolences, I've been through similar. Long ago, in 2005 when I was a member of a fan forum for the sitcom Full House I'd been a popular fanfic writer. My most popular fanfic even won second place in a contest. One day I'd reposted a fanfic I'd had up on their first host as they'd moved. A mod made a rude comment about the fic and when I'd pointed it out to him he'd come back with how he'd just been expressing an opinion. That may have been true but he'd been quite unnecessarily rude, this person always had been to me for absolutely no reason. When I'd make a mistake on the first version of the forum this person would snap my head off and he wasn't even a mod until the new forum. Anyway he was then joined by another mod, and this one had actually once been a tight friend of mine but being a mod had bitch-afied her and I know for a fact that she was younger than me, quite a bit so in fact. So this chick takes the first mod's side and from there so begun a ridicule party. These two continue to say shit about me totally unrelated to the fanfic and nearly the entire board consisting of a few other people who'd been friends and fans of my writing came in and started ridiculing me. The head admin was nowhere in sight but due to an incident from not long prior which is another story he wasn't exactly a fan of mine either. Short version, my account was being messed with and the admin refused to believe it wasn't my own work despite my having no motive. He'd ended up giving me the benefit of the doubt.

So I ended up having to leave the community and I'd wish I'd known then that accounts were deletable because a couple of years later I was told by a couple of witnesses (a couple of very few who hadn't participated in the ridicule party) that they'd had fun with my account after I was gone.

Something similar happened to me on Neopets with a single user a few years later. Let's jump forward in time a little, about two years. 2008. Rough estimate as I don't remember for sure. This user was harassing another user, a 12 year old boy in a public forum thread. I'd come to his defense and she'd turned on me. She did everything from bombarding me with hate messages to even going as far to openly complain about how the boy's mother whom she'd claimed to be me had attacked her for bullying her son. To be clear I am no one's mother, I was too young to have a 12 year old and still to this day have never had a boyfriend. I'd gotten her account frozen several times but she kept returning with new accounts only baring slight number and underscore variations of her original username.

Her final act was to make a public thread accusing me of scamming her, something that might have very well gotten my account frozen or at least a bad rap had she not been a known harasser. So thankfully no one bought it.

The moral of this long post (sorry hehe), people are gonna be assholes sometimes. All we can do is be strong and get passed it without stooping to their level.

It's an issue that tends to arise when a forum is left largely free-reign. That, combined with the fact that it's likely not intended to be anything particularly intellectual or insightful means every once in a while a bad seed pops up who manages to be a hypocrite while demonstrating a unique mastery of the use of logical fallacy (i.e. ad hom). It's not everyone, it's just the fact that the internet gives people the anonymity and distance to do things that they otherwise wouldn't dare to do.

While it sucks a lot and is uncalled for, it's hard to know what would cause the "uprising" without knowing context.

I've known a few people who've been bullied online and even on this site which is lame.

+1 to your post

It's nice to see people saying positive stuff. (even in their own pain so you know what it's like for others)

I'm so sorry that happened to you-- that sounds so awful and you're right, they are childish for not being able to communicate with you when confronted about actions they should be accountable for and own up to. Real women, who have grown in character, will build others up instead of kicking them down. Don't let them rile you up enough to barrel off into their little girl games. There will always be someone who has your back and you, of course, have our support.

That is absolutely horrible and immature :/ Even if you said horrible, offensive things to them that's a terrible way to react (I'm not implying you did by the way). Just try to ignore it, or see if you can get it taken down if it interferes with your life at all. People need to man up and sort their problems out themselves rather than online -_- I'm sure a lot of people have your back though, we all do!

The internet (especially tumblr lmao) is full of assholes who think arguing/getting mad at someone even to the point of harassment over the internet actually does justice. (sorry if this doesn't make sense, even tho english is my first language, its kinda bad lmao)

Just ignore/block them, and if that doesn't work, then just try and report them somehow.

Any form of bullying and harassment is petty, small-minded, and something boring people do. Any intelligent person with a different opinion would simply ask, constructively criticize, and maybe debate.

The best thing that you can do is ignore it. People can just be ignorant, vile and spiteful. The internet is made for opinions and just because you gave yours, doesn't mean that they should bully/ ridicule you. What this chick did was wrong. I hope you reported it and made it clear that what they were doing was bullying.

Edit: I hope you're okay now. Don't let them get you down.

You posted hurtful racist and transphobic comments and people called you out on that, lol. So it's ok for you to say transgender people are confused about their identity because they have mental issues but if people disagree with you they're harassing you. Interesting.
