Anyone watched Broadchurch? :D
It's a British whodunnit mystery that aired this year (if you watched it on BBCA, be sure you got all the scenes as I heard they left out some scenes in the finale at the very least ;x). Eight episodes. David Tennant in a major role. Need I say more?
Okay. I will. xD (no spoilers ahead btw)
I really enjoyed the series. The music was fabulous. The acting was spot on. But most of all, I like how not impossible it was to figure out. I really hate the mysteries that come at you out of left-field and you're like ... and how was I supposed to figure that out with the information given me? ;s
I'm not sure how I feel about an American adaptation, especially on FOX. ;l But okay. I'll have to tune in to see how they adapted it.
Season two better have the same cast. :c I've grown too attached to the characters to let them go. /grabby hands
Woo, I'm so glad I found your thread (: It indeed was amazing, I got into British dramas in the past few months and this was definitely one of the best of them. I really agree that it was a nice "plot-twist" that there was basically no plot-twist, they didn't just pull a random character we'd never seen before out of their ass, it was all logical. Also I have to admit it made me shed a tear or two at the end.
All in all, everyone should go and watch it, it's really worth the time.
And on a side note, I really don't understand the need of an American adaptation since as to my knowledge it's just finished airing on BBC America, and I also doubt they could give back the atmosphere, but I'll check it out regardless.
I also loved this series. It was a nice change to find out that it was rather simple, but not overtly EASY, to figure out who the killer was. Like, the show planted the suspicions in your head, but threw enough mystery at you that you weren't sure... Yeah, I loved it.
I didn't even know they were making an American adaption. I don't know what the point is, since the British version already aired in America. Why would we need our own version? Blah.
Ooh, British dramas? Care to expand? ;O I'd love to watch other good ones (and totally try to brush up on understanding English accents lol xD).
( too :3)
Yeah, I was so emotional at the end of it. ;O; I think I managed to suspect every single person on the show, so I was surprised I managed to call the real perp about 2/3s in. It was a nice, giddy feeling of ooh I did it I did it I did it YAY. xD I read the show creator has written the pilot for the American adaptation, so maybe the pilot won't be sucky, but the actual series itself? I don't understand the need for an American adaptation and SO QUICKLY to boot. ;s Doesn't even give the original time to breathe. How rude imo.
Sure, I can't guarantee they're that good though, but here's a quick list:
What Remains - This has just finished airing and only has 4 episodes, but 4 really intensne ones. The story centers of a girl who died in her own flat and was missing for 2 years, and somehow none of the neighbors reported the case, and basically it centers around the house and the tenants, a bit similar to Broadchurch on this matter. Seriously after the first episode I was more excited about to find out who the killer is than about any other ongoing finale.
The Fall - Also a title from this summer, honestly I didn't find it as strong as Broadchurch or the rest I'm recommending, but it's still pretty interesting (especially Gillian Anderson's character/perfomance made it that), but as a 5-episode crime-thriller it's worth the time.
are you familiar with Luther? I've only watched it a few weeks ago after all the hype, and I was quite sceptic about it, but it also turned out amazing (in my opionion though, haha), it's a bit different since it's not the a whodunnit type, but since it has a strong main plot line, it keeps the suspense.
also my personal favorite would be Life on Mars and the sequel Ashes to Ashes, also not a whodunnit, but a not-so-typical cop drama, but if you want to see a finale that makes LOST look like a baby show, I strongly recommend it. Also the cast was just amazing, and if you enjoy the 70's/80's it's a great bonus, since the story takes place in those time (mostly).
ugh, I guess only these few for now, my brain is pretty much like a goldfish's and I'm in a hurry, but if you need anything esle, I'll look around (:
