I've looked all over and I can't figure out where the option is for public or private comments. Or has it been changed that they're always private for everyone, and it can't be changed?

You have to go into Edit Your Profile, then add the Comments widget (the one that displays your most recent comments, not the one for leaving a comment). You can change the number it displays to 0 if you want, but there's also a checkbox for making them private.

The thing is, you can still read them regardless from the direct link so I have no idea what good this option is at all (par for the course around here tbh).

Private comments = smail.

Pretty much what Karen said. If you don't want your conversation read go to PM, although remember ANYTHING on the internet is never private...ever.

If someone left you a comment you don't want others to see, best bet is to delete it :)

There's no such thing as private on Subeta when it comes to comments, it's between you, the recipient and the admin if they need to check something.

Lol guys, Foxy is just asking about the feature where you can make it so that only friends can read your comments. Whether it is secure of not is a different topic : P I think non-friends can read the most recent page anyway. Not sure if that was intentional or not.

I think the first page of comments is always viewable regardless of the new friends-only setting so it's best to bury or delete comments from that page.
