I really hate when I'm through reading a forum that only has a few posts on it and people keep saying the exact same thing that 5 people above them said. This a serious problem on the suggestions board. I was just reading through somebody's suggestion about being able to buy from your own shop and about 7 people all said that that would make shop till achievements too easy to which people had already given suggestion to prevent that. If they had taken 5 minutes to even skim through what people above them had said, they wouldn't of needed to post their useless opinions.

sorry you don't have experience in how the Suggestions forums work. Not everyone posts on Suggestions, so those that do are the people who care more about how the site works. Because of this, these threads get paid attention to by TPTB,

Therefore it is important to add your voice there (if it matters to you),, even if you don't have anything interesting or new to add. Ignoring a Suggestions thread is identical to not-posting, it means you don't care one way or another. Nobody can read your mind to tell otherwise.

Just because someone doesn't have the "5 minutes" to read every single post in a topic each time they post it doesn't mean their opinion is "useless" as you have put it. If they see a problem with a suggestion there's nothing wrong with multiple people pointing it out, it just shows that the suggestion had a flaw. I don't see how this might be a "serious problem"? On the other hand it bothers me when people make a new suggestion board on something that was just recently suggested. :/

No opinion is ever useless. This is why people living in a democratic system can vote, after all.

I think for the suggestions forum it makes sense for people to post, even if they just agree with what others have said. It's a good way for developers to get an idea of the weight of opinion behind a suggestion, I'd imagine. Now, in other forums, it doesn't make any sense at all. In help and questions, five posts explaining the same thing without any additional input would be a little silly. All the same, it's nice people took the time.

This doesn't bug me especially on the suggestion forum! The whole point of that forum is to essentially poll people on if they like your idea or not. The masses won't always sway the result (just because everyone on the thread likes it doesn't mean staff will do it), but it's a really good way to test the waters for new features. Just because one person said, "Yes, I'd like some more green shoes, what a good idea!" that doesn't mean no one else should bother agreeing.

Okay I concede that their opinions aren't useless,that was poor wording on my part, it's just that people point the same flaw in the OP original suggestion that other people have already discussed. Since it is a suggestion board they should read what other people above them have already said that way they can add on to the conversation. Otherwise it just goes in a big loop of someone pointing out the flaw in the original suggestion, someone addressing the flaw in the original suggestion, and someone else pointing out the same flaw again.

I don't mean when someone agrees with peoples suggestions, that is just fine. It wouldn't do much good if no one agreed or disagreed with a suggestion. But people pointing out the same flaw over and over again doesn't really help an idea grow very well.

Also, sometimes multiple people post within a few minutes of each other, meaning they probably were typing when the first one or two responses were made, and never saw them, thus not realizing they are repeating info.

But I agree with the people above. It's good for many people to voice their opinions on a suggestion, since it paints a better picture for the OP.

I don't mind it at all, because it shows what the majority of people think about a subject. Like in your example, obviously most people feel that having that Shop Till change wouldn't be the best thing for the site. Seven people saying so says a lot more about the site user's general opinion then just one person.

What exactly do you expect people to say? Thats what the suggestion board is for, isn't it? Someone makes a suggestion.. and people either disagree or not and based on the outcome staff could either consider this idea, or not. If everyone disagrees because of the same reasons this gives staff a much better base to decide on. If a lot of people are against it because of the same reason there must be a valid point behind and nothing that can be just shrugged off with a "Me, they are just biased". If nobody posts just because someone else already got all points with one snap.. this topic pretty much is useless.

That is something I didn't think of. I didn't consider it like that but it does make a lot of sense. I apologize to anyone I offended, I honestly didn't think of it that way. I guess it would be the same as everyone agreeing with a suggestion, repetitive but it does show what everyone thinks. I think I have to agree with your last statement as well, this topic is now useless as well.

Yeah, exactly what i meant. But i do agree on repetetive stuff being annoying on complaining boards though. Its not neccessary to accuse one person for begging like.. 20 times. And this happens sometimes too, a ton of people jumping onto one post just to tell someone how wrong he is. Just wanted to add. x)

Now that I agree with. I guess with other boards this topic would be a little more applicable?
