So, this was precipitated by the fact that I have been contemplating moving downtown... not now, obviously, but likely sometime in the future.

That said,

dream apartment: Loft. When I was a kid and watching tv shows, the apartments that the main characters had were usually loft style and for some reason that style of apartment stuck with me as the ideal apartment type. Loft apartments tend to be fairly expensive though, from what I've seen and the price for them is not usually something I'm willing to pay so I will in all likelihood never own one though.

Dream City: Europe, and yes, that's a continent, but really I just want to live in Europe. That said, by places in Europe, admittedly I do mean London or Paris probably though.

For an apartment I have no idea (except that I want a large balcony and not a tiny stand-up café) but if I could choose freely where to live I'd move to Berlin or Tübingen in Germany, Norway or somewhere at the coast of the British Isles.

I want an apartment either in a villa in Tuscany, Florence or Rome. Doesn't have to be big, good view would be an absolute must, along with decent everything else like the kitchen, bath and bedroom mustn't be FUBAR'd when I first get there (i.e. I don't want to live in a dump.)

I would want a nice apartment on a high floor so there is a nice view. It doesn't have to be super fancy, but cozy enough for me to feel at home and safe. And at this point of life I would love it to be in Kuala Lumpur. :}

Flat on the top floor in a really tall building (RELIABLE LIFT IS COMPULSORY!!) so there's a nice skyline view. Ideal location would be central London or a well-developed mega-city like New York, Hong Kong or Tokyo.

I just moved today to a really nice town, but it's even further from London and it's a shared house ;(

A nice, small, clean flat with excellent soundproofing and a small outdoor space somewhere in Dublin.

I am so obsessed with day dreaming about my future life! It usually involves a city, a job I love, and a cute ass apartment where I can live with my puppy. If we're on the topic of dream apartments, I guess I'd want some Upper Eastside Penthouse in NYC, but realistically, I want to move to a city in the UK, depending on where my work takes me I guess, and I'd be so happy with a small modern apartment (pets allowed, ofc).

I mean, most of my friends want houses of their own, like it's weird that now I'm in my twenties people are leaning toward their futures and so many of them want suburban lifestyles that would send me running in the opposite direction!

I lived in a city for three years and need to get back; I love rural/country living but I'm so much better suited to the city life. I'd rather be a small fish in a big pond than a big fish in a small pond, if that makes sense?

I hope you get to live in Paris, even if just for a few months. It's an amazing city.

Lofts are the fucking bomb diggety.

I'd love a loft in NYC but LOOOL GOOD LUCK WITH THAT unless I manage to marry a millionaire.

I'm already in the only city I'd ever want to live - Ottawa. So I guess I have that going for me.

Hell, I even live downtown - but I don't plan on staying in this particular location forever. It gets pretty noisy, what with all the traffic during the day and drunk assholes coming to and from the bars at night. I'd like to return to my little corner of the city where I grew up; more suburban, quieter, safer neighbourhoods - but still reasonably easy to get to and from the downtown area.

As for my dream apartment? I don't have one. I do, however, have a dream house. I'm currently in an apartment; and while it does have its perks (good price, convenient location, a view of the Peace Tower), I certainly don't want to live in one forever. It suits my needs for now, but I'd find it much too restrictive in the long-term.

It's funny - if you had asked me two years ago, I would have described exactly where I'm living now. Answering now, and I describe where I was living two years ago. Go figure.

Eh, I'm pretty tired of city life, having lived in a major city my whole life. Not that there aren't perks to it, but I'd like to try the slower-paced small town life. I've always had this fantasy, maybe from too many corny young adult fiction books, about living in a small town where everyone knows each other.

Living in a city is expensive, stressful and surprisingly isolated in my experience. It's probably a "grass is greener" type thing though.

My dream house & city would be a cabin in the North Cascades or the Olympics. Or a cabin in the mountains anywhere, really, as long as it's beautiful.

I've been to Paris but yeah I'd like to live abroad in Europe at least for a short period of time just to see what it would feel like to live there.

Strangely enough, while one side of my dream location is usually living in a European urban city like London or Paris, the other half is actually living in the countryside.

I will admit I do like the convenience of living downtown though just in terms of public transit and not having to have a car, and all that jazz, which is kind of what precipitated the desire to move downtown.

I'm not discounting country life; I actually still want to live in the country someday, but country that's close to a city, just because it'd make more sense for convenience sakes to at least be somewhat close to the city.

When I was younger, I remember really liking the city of Albany, it was small and urban enough that it seemed kind of country but still had a lot of the modern conveniences of a small city, and plus, the architecture on some of those old houses was amazing.
