I REALLY want to enter the pet spotlight but I know I have a few issues.

Overall I am very happy with the story/minion/overlay. I am NOT happy with where the petname/minion name ended up. I struggled with variations for hours before sort of giving up.

Any ideas? I REALLY want to enter her, but not before I feel like those things look perfect!

You could definitely do with making the font bigger for the minion and pet details. If it were me, I'd put the pet stuff all one one like, like Name - Colour - Owner, just below the overlay.

Ok, I'll fiddle with that. IDK why I ended up making the font so small in the first place!

So... I may or may not have gone way over board. I didn't move/change anything other than the minion/pet text and I did re-arrange the treasure slightly, because it wasn't filling the space. SO.

This is the code that I have for a pet image that now looks like this: click. The minion text is shown when you hover on the minion. Because the minion isn't just a transparent background and actually adds to the image itself it was really hard to work. My recommendation? Either put the minion itself on the image next time, or stay with a transparent background for it and do the rest on the image. This gives you more flexibility when playing with sizing and such.

I wasn't sure what colors where because you have a lot going on. You have... one color with two shades on the background, three colors on the pet image, two on the minion image, two different backgrounds, a graphic for the story that slightly hinders readability and I swore the text was the name, haha. That part is my own silliness. :P

Basically you have a lot of the good aspects of design thought down. For the most part everything is easy to look at and none of the colors are too glaring. They do match! ❤️ It's just that design-wise it's a bit overwhelming when you have a lot of important colors. You can still keep all of these, but for me, when I look at it, my eyes immediately split the profile down the middle. The story and "misfortune" (which is a great font, FYI) are put into one section and the pet/minion/treasure and background are put in a second one. Additionally, I would point out to make sure and line up your boxes. It's a super small thing to pay attention to, and it can somewhat cramp the image if you aren't careful, but right now your tops line up, but not the bottom of the treasure/story.

Are you using photoshop or GIMP? Because (not sure about GIMP) PS has the "copy layer style" tool that will make each of your boxes exactly the same. Your pet overlay and treasure boxes are supposed to be the same, roughly it look slike, but they're a tad off from each other? Photoshop also has a great gradient tool for blending out the edges of your image. This way you don't have that harsh line from image to background. :)

I critiqued a lot here, and I apologize. I want you to know that this is in no way saying it's bad! It's me pointing out a few things that will crisp it up and really perfect it for the spotlight. If you have any questions, feel free to ask, or play with colors I used or whatever. I mainly just used colors I thought blended well with the profile -- but you're welcome to change them obviously! Thank you for the in depth critique! I definitely want to implement some of what you mentioned and also go back and look at what I did. I think originally I had everything coded with NO background images and then got fed up and made one big image in Photoshop. So I can go back and make those boxes even!

No problem! ❤️ Sometimes I get swept up in critiquing and forget that I tend to bombard people, haha. Doing a pet page with no background image is crazy hard. ;w; Like. I have tried, and for the most part, I just can't do it.
