One of my hamsters usually gets the run of my bedroom, since she's generally not happy in the ball until she gets some freedom. A few days ago, I purchased a pair of jeans, washed them, folded them and put them in my drawer. Tonight, I went into my bedroom to get my hamster to put her in her cage. I heard some ruckus in one of my drawers, I opened it and she chewed a VERY large hole in my brand new pair of jeans, which I haven't even worn it.
I called my mom, cussing up a storm. She said it's not her fault because she doesn't know any better and she just saw it as nesting material. I have no clue what I'm going to wear to work tomorrow. I have another pair of jeans that barely fit. My mom said it's just going to have to make do for a day.
Anyway... she's never chewed anything in my room and she just lost her floor privilege.
It's probably best not to set hamsters loose anyway even if the door is closed because they can squeeze into such tiny spaces and easily become lost or hurt.
Sorry about your new clothes!

I called the store to see if they had another pair of the same jean in the size I need... of course they don't!
How it all started with her running on the floor, is that she escaped her hamster ball and ever since she got the "taste of freedom", she likes to run free for a bit, than go her in ball.
Sorry to hear about your jeans. I don't have any pets now, but when I had them...they were something! I am debating whether or not to get my little ones a hamster.
There's a show called "Bad Dog!" on Animal Planet. This sounds like something you would see on that show. Sorry to hear that they didn't have another pair for you.
Owned by a jet-black cat named Twilight! Meow!
Oh i woulda been so mad! maybe find her some of those tubes they can run through for exercise?
Searching for :)
I had hamsters and the one time I let them out they ate everything. :l So I understand your pain D: See if they have the same size at another location, maybe?
She's a hamster, what did you expect? Lol. Most animals (but especially rodents) chew on everything. Every pet owner should know that. I would never let a rodent run around my room because they get into everything and can easily get hurt.
Just... why on earth would you think it was a good idea to let her run around your room unsupervised? She's going to get hurt someday if you keep letting her do that.
Also going to add that letting a rodent run around a room unsupervised is extremely irresponsible. I hope you learn to take better care of your pets.
