I didn't find an existing topic about this. It's a touchy subject, but I'm feeling extremely alone here. I don't need advice as much as I just want to talk to someone who KNOWS how I feel? I've been cutting since I was about eleven. The last time I cut was October of last year and it was just one slice up my thigh. For the most part, I've resisted pretty well.

I'm just going through a ton of stress. My need to break out of this stupid, monotone cycle of work and sleep is pushing me close to the edge. I've been clinging on to every, little piece of happy information I can to avoid cutting myself. Distractions? Suggestions? Anything, please..

have you tried snapping an elastic band on your hand? This often works for me. My weak point is pulling my hair out though. I tend to rip strands out one by one, because it feels a little sharp, and I like that. But my hair has not been doing well recently, so I've resorted to snapping a band on my wrist instead, which almost works the same. As for distractions, try to keep yourself as busy as possible. Think of your day as one hour slots, and try to fill each of those hours with something different or new. Go on adventures and do a lot of walking, catch up with old friends and meet them for coffee. Read new books and watch films that you haven't seen in ages, or haven't got round to yet. Try to plan your days, so that they are as full and as exciting as they can be. There are loads of helplines to call on google if you want some professional advice, but you're absolutely welcome to comment or message me if you fancy a chat, I'm always up for making new friends, and I hope I've been somewhat helpful
