I have two pets, John Freeman and Jhary-A-Conel, I'm just not really inspired by anymore - I can't think of any decent profiles or stories for them and I get the feeling that they're just taking up spots I could use for newer ideas. Now John Freeman is a fanpet of a popular Half Life badfic so I'm sure I'd be able to find a loving home for him, but Jhary on the other hand is more obscure. I don't think I've met more than one or two other Moorcock fans on the site and I'm still fond enough of him that I don't want him to be adopted just for his Blacklight colour. I want him to be loved for his name! Plus he has 40 TC slots and treasures from the Cash Shop so there's Sunken Cost fallacy in there as well. 9u9

So. What do? Should I adopt out both or just adopt out John and change Jhary's name, saving me the CSC I'd otherwise use in buying him a decent amount of TC slots? Or keep both and hope my fickle pet muse strikes again? I have so many ideas for pets I'm desperate to make, I just can't decide...

Oh I know the dilemmas of uninspired or fallen out of favor pets.
I adopted out some and pounded others and regretted it almost right away on a couple of them. To be honest with yours, I would try to adopt out John and keep Jhary and try to rename it to something that does inspire you a lot more. You invested a lot in Jhary and the name is rather nice. If I was you, I'd hang onto him.

I've had this happen to me many times. In the past I've adopted out, pounded, revamped the profile, changed the entire character, and changed the name. I've gotten rid of pets with 100+ TC spaces before too, and haven't regretted it so far.

If I were in your shoes, I'd calculate the highest cost of a 40 slot TC (using MKB Millionaire Center price x 40) and compare that to the price of a name change. If a name change is more, I'd get rid of Jhary and use that money expanding the new pet's TC. You could even sell Jhary's TC items to help fund the new pet. Heck, you might even get lucky and find a pet with a TC bigger than 40 UFA.

But regardless, its sounds like you're not ready to let go of Jhary. I think adopting out John and just holding onto Jhary (and not doing anything) for a while to think it over might be a good idea.

Thanks for the advice. I've put John in the Pound and Jhary up for tentative adoption; I'll see if he gets any interest. If he doesn't I'll probably just change his name.
