hey guys. i have my septum pierced at 16g and am contemplating whether or not to start wearing 14g jewellery in it as there seem to be more options available in terms of jewellery in that size... but i'm worried that 14g jewellery might look too thick compared to 16g as i prefer wearing smaller/more "dainty" looking jewellery in it right now (if that makes sense). does anyone have their septum done and/or know if there is really much of a difference between 14g and 16g? thanks!

- i got my septum done at 14g, and eventually moved it up to a 12g. there was definitely a difference in that. people would tell me how it was too distracting and HUGE. of course there are different shapes/colors/types of jewelry that you can mess around with, which helps with people/yourself not focusing on the thickness/how big it is.

i honestly suggest to go for it, because you might change your mind about it now or later and it's always easier to go back down. just stretch it slowly to avoid damage. another reason why i had mine at a bigger gauge, was so when i took it out for work/events/etc, it wouldn't close up as fast. i could leave it out for about a week about half a year after getting it pierced. now i got a horseshoe i can just flip up, but i didn't have a whole bunch of options back then.

anymore questions pertaining to septum or facial piercings in general? i have pics i could send to you of mine once i changed gauges and color. don't really feel like posting pics of my mug unless it helps you. :P

I don't have my septum done, but I've done a lot of gauging in my ears, and 16g to 14g isn't much of a stretch at all. I do have snakebites, and I use both 14g and 16g. I think the size difference is 4mm.

oh gosh, i forgot about this thread but thank you guys for your replies! , i just started wearing a little 14g pincher and i'm pretty happy with it! agree that it's probably also dependent on what jewellery you're wearing in it, the one i have in at the moment is actually super cute and small which i definitely prefer for myself personally. no questions for you i don't think, but thanks a lot for your answer, lovely! :)

Mine was pierced at a 14g and it's still at 14g. I preferred the dainty look as well. You will have to look around, but there is some jewelry out there that aren't as long as other 14g rings. I usually get the rings that have a piece that connects in the middle, so it looks like the entire thing is solid. It's not too long and it looks great with my nose x3
