link Okay, I am totally and completely disgusted/sickened/horrified by this. Some of the stuff written into the migratory bird act may be batshit, but I hope that these people are prosecuted to the full extent of the law- yes, including federal prison time. I mean come on people, would it REALLY have been that difficult to get someone who knew falconry to get rid of them?

The people who chopped up the birds and 'lol oops, didn't realize they were there when they cut the branches down' are lying sacks of garbage.

They should have removed the branches (if they absolutely had to) after all babies had successfully fledged and every bird was gone, every nest empty. They easily could have waited. Or maybe parked their trucks somewhere else?!?!

But the shorebirds aren&;t so cute to the U.S. Postal Service. Officials at the downtown post office ordered nearby trees trimmed Saturday because nesting birds were defecating on the mail trucks.

I don't understand how bird poop is a problem here at all. It's just a man-made vehicle. Those birds are alive. Priorities.

[edit]...at least they were repentant over the situation and want to prevent it from ever happening again. ♥

Baby birds get chopped up all the time. Chickens. Factory farms. Why? Because they are boys and boys can't lay eggs.

Would it be okay if I took your breath away?

Not the time or place hun. One is a wild, federally protected bird and the other is a domesticated, farm raised, bred for slaughter one. In the ideal world this wouldn't make a difference, but it does in the far from ideal world where we live.

so now if you poop in the wrong places you get fed into a chipper? If only this could be implemented in some areas >.>

But in all seriousness that's really shitty. Even if you get an infestation of bats in your roof and they are a protected kind you can't kill them/ stop them from living. Even more so when they have young they are caring for. Exterminators will even tell you when it's ok to stop them from coming inside and how to stop it but only after they've done what they might need to. So the just claim you can't see birds on a tree branch is lame. I see them and nests no matter what tree it is and I'm not even a bird watcher XD

FINALLY GOT THE 15K WARDROBE DONE!!!!! Next up gutting and selling it.

That's just horrible, and you don't miss a bird's nest. Someone had to see that there were baby birds there, new or not. That's complete BS that that guy is spouting. I hope they are punished rather harshly for such a disgusting, horrible act of violence.
