jump out of the window! no, but really.. I'd probably run out of town.
- yes, it suuuuucks! in my opinion, don't bug or acknowledge whatever it is. if it pursues to hurt or scare you, get help. i don't fricken deal with that frack anymore and take all the precautions when i live at a new place.
I don't think the spirit who lives here is dangerous, I think she's just curious and she's just one of our roommates. I'm pretty sure it's a female because my boyfriend look a photo in the kitchen (after hearing footsteps right behind him) and you can kind of see a face in it, and it looks like a female. She doesn't bother us, just startles us sometimes xD
- still, regardless if nice or not, be careful. i used to love using ouija boards, walking around graveyards at night, and trying to talk to anything that i knew was around, (idiot teenage years!) that isn't your case, but it started out with a friendly spirit, then i got too nosy and now i attract a bunch of gunk wherever i go. and one doesn't like to leave. be careful that you acknowledging her doesn't catch the attention of anything else. the deceased tend to like attention, whether it be good or bad. thank goodness she's not dangerous to you though.
- it's actually kind of hard to ignore a specific one. it has been strong enough to follow me from home to home. it's not a ghost, more of an "energy vampire" but i found it/it found me in a traumatizing time and place. that one knows how to mess with me from time to time, and when i talk to people out here, they think i'm a nut job usually. i'm not strong enough to get rid of it. haven't found anybody that could get rid of it for more than a few years regardless.
the old apartment i was at, i had a roommate that brought some bad stuff into our home and one of the "things" attacked a friend staying over. he was covered in bite marks and scratches and it was one of the freakiest things ever. the last house i stayed at before this apartment, i got a bad vibe from in a few rooms. the person who let me stay there said there was a guy who owned the house that died upstairs, but he lingers, and people have seen it, and he was "a nice ghost" but the "nice ghost" didn't care for me much, he'd lock my cats upstairs and he turned on the sink in the basement (i was staying downstairs) one day, my s/o and i woke up and the basement was flooded and we had to get rid of a lot of our stuff. it also pushed one of my cats down the stairs. i had enough and finally took out some charms and did a spell to keep him away from my pets and i. here, i feel nothing bad, but if it get to the point where i'm not alone, good or bad, i'd help pass it on or push it out. because, i miss being alone when i want to be, you know? haha. anyways, enough of me sounding potentially crazy to you.
No, you don't sound crazy at all! I'm a huge believer in the paranormal and in spirits, so I was definitely interested in what you were saying. I'm sorry that these spirits have given you a rough time. The one with your friend being attacked and being covered in bite marks and scratches sounds terrifying. If something like that ever happened to me, I don't even know what I would do. Probably freak the absolute fuck out, hahaha. I'm an emotionally weak person, so you definitely handled this a lot better than I ever could, haha. I hope these spirits learn to leave you alone, though. <3
- haha, i'm emotionally weak too, i just got fed up one day being pushed around by the alive and dead, so now, i cut the negative things out of my life. if someone is intruding on me and my space, i'm not afraid to tell it to back off. no matter how weak you think you are, there's power within you, and if you are able to see ghosts, you are able to see them away... with some force or tactical planning. i don't think you have to be a witch or a wiccan to use magic or powers of the earth but screaming "go away" over and over doesn't do jack to help. magic is mindset too, like, if you believe something enough, it can happen. haha, i might be losing you here, but anywhooo, not all spirits and ghosts are bad. the stuff i have found to be bad are categorized in that section but i don't think most of them have ever been human on this earth. those "things" that attacked my friend staying over, what kind of spirit would do that? the scratch marks came in threes so that's another giveaway. i've seen and heard of ghosts trying to help people out or ghosts contacting us in need of aid to pass on, but not all of them are, and not all of them are what they seem. count your blessings that this one isn't bad or your relationship with it doesn't change. there's already enough to worry about in life, so why stress about the things that are dead? (kind of how i handle death too.) let it be in the realm it needs to be.
Nope, but my house does look creepy on the outside.
There was a bad spirit in my house a few years ago. However, a great friend did manage to push it out and it hasn't bothered me since.
I've encountered spirits that either didn't care about me or were friendly also. Luckily I haven't encountered something as bad again :)
That is so creepy O_O I pet sit a lot or just come hang out and spend the night at my friends house and she has like 15 or 20 reptiles, 3 dogs, 2 cats, plus she pet sits and walks dogs for a living. Sometimes the dogs will just stop and stare at nothing and growl at nothing, the turtles will (slowly) run and hide under their little fake log houses and nothing will be there.
Also when I'm here alone she has this radio alarm clock and it will randomly turn on and off by itself.
There's a hair straightener with a holster that has suction cups to hold it on the mirror and nobody was home I remember looking at it thinking "I like that shade of pink....I wish I could use it" (I have dreadlocks) then a couple hours later I go back in the restroom and the hair straightener is on the counter. The holster was still on the mirror so it hadn't fallen and nothing was knocked over on the counter that would have been hit by a falling straightener.
This was all so weird and a little creepy. Especially the animals being frightened by "nothing." The dogs realize the reptiles are there and know of their noises and they are not scarey or harmful plus the reptiles all hid.

I'm glad you mentioned the hair straightener. We've (mom, me and younger brother) have lived in several trailer parks, through out lives, and this one trailer in particular.... I had an old halloween burger king toy. The kind you'd have to smack on your hand, or something hard to make it make noise. Well, with the layout of the room, I had my desk on the wall opposite the closet, so my desk was right under the one window, and the closet on the opposite wall.
I had this toy attached to the wall somehow. Its been years, so I don't really remember HOW it was on the wall, other than the fact it was there. One day I'm at the desk (back naturally to the closet doors) and I heard the toy go off. I turned around and I didn't see it. At this point, I had no idea where it was, all I knew was it was NOT on the floor in front of the closet. When I got out of the chair I seen it laying on the floor behind the chair.
I picked up the toy, walked to the closet doors, and held the toy to them. Then proceeded to drop the toy from various heights. Not once did the toy fall towards my chair, nor did it go off. No matter the height it fell, it always went straight down.

The trailer hubs and I stayed in, while we lived with his mother, (we were just dating at the time) was almost always cold. It was considered a 3 bedroom, but the 3rd room was barely big enough to be considered a nursery, so we used it for storage. His mom smoked cigarettes, and one night we could smell smoke from outside out bedroom window. mind you, her room was on one end of the trailer, ours was on the complete opposite. When we noticed the smell we didn't think much of it, and just assumed his mom was smoking out on the back porch, and the wind must have carried the smell to our window. When we confronted his mom about it, she said she wasn't on the porch, and she had only smoked in her room with the door closed.
The smell in her room was different than the one we smelled coming in our window. Those who smoke, be it cigars or cigarettes, know there's a difference in those smells. They do not smell the same. Turns out we had a ghost who enjoyed smoking cigars. I told him one night, I didn't care if he was at the trailer, I didn't want him in our room.
Each morning when I'd get up to see, I'd open our door and right there, at the corner of the couch which was next to our door, was the smell of cigars. The ghost never came INTO our room, but he would sit on the couch and smoke. Each morning, as I walked past the door, I'd say "Good morning, George" and by the time I got back to our room, the smell was gone. Like it never happened.

I went to check on hubs mom once, to see if she was ok, because at the time she was working 3rd shift, so during the day I'd peek on her just to make sure she was alright. One time, I seen his black shadowy figure next to her bed, hunched over, and looking at her. I dont know how to describe it, other than a black shadowy silhouette. But it stood there, at the side of her bed, while she slept, and was hunched over maybe 5 or so feet away from her face.

The trailer hubs and I lived in before the current one, also had company. You could be in the shower, and hear foot steps coming down the hall. Once when I was washing my hair, I felt a hand on my lower back. The way I arch my back when rinsing my hair, makes it next to impossible for water to run down my back, and this felt like a hand, not water.
I would be home alone, and stuff would be knocked over. The plastic dinosaurs I had on top the tv would randomly "fall" off the tv. Pictures would be knocked off the walls. You never felt like you were alone in that trailer. and though at the time, we had a cat, she wasn't knocking the dinosaurs off the tv. There were times, I'd be in the kitchen, cats no where near the tv and a dinosaur would fall. There is NOTHING on the disney channel loud enough to shake a dinosaur down, not when there's 3 up there, and only one falls off.

Now in our current trailer, I'm sure we have company. But I try to ignore it. I'm pregnant and in August I'll be bringing my baby here, I dont want to acknowledge whatever it is, that may be here. I'll sometimes see shadows outside the corner of my eye, and especially at night, there's like a scratching/knocking noise at the door. The shadows I'll catch whether hubs is home or not. The knocking only happens at night when I'm alone.
I'm convinced that one of the houses I used to live in is haunted. My mom and I would never go into the basement. There was really bad energy in that basement. I just remember that my dad always went down there to get food from the freezer and my mom and I stayed out of there because it felt really sinister.
YES! When I would go to my ex boyfriend's grandma's house, it would be very late at night/early morning hours and we would hear things all of the time! One time in particular, we were watching a movie upstairs and we heard a very loud bang downstairs and we both froze. He ran downstairs to check everything out, and he came back up-his face was white. He said he couldn't find anything.
I felt so bad for him because he didn't ever sleep well because he said things like that happened all of the time. I think something was very attached to his grandma, and it lingered in the house.
I am a huge believer of the paranormal, but I don't talk about it often because some people just don't understand and look at you like you're crazy. Like people have mentioned above, be VERY careful about paying attention to them because they will latch onto you and others will pick up your sensitivity.
i haven't had very many paranormal experiences luckily, as i don't think i would handle them very well, but sometimes i think i can smell my dad's cologne, and that makes me happy.
that's very spooky, the shadow standing at your husband's mom's bed! i think i'd freak out or something!
Not sure if it was ACTUALLY haunted, but my best friend and his family invited me to go on a vacation up in New Jersey. Lovely little tourist town, with single family vacation houses for rent right off the beach. The one we picked was the Annie Barker house, and of course people wrote in the guest book about her. Little things like "Remember to say hi to Annie :)" and "We definitely felt Annie's presence!" Probably B.S., but still cute.
At some point, my best friend's dad and his fiancee went off really late at night for some...romantic dinner or walk on the beach or something. That left my best friend, his little sister, and I all to ourselves. Well, it was getting even later and we were hungry, so we went downstairs to get some food when we heard a noise at the door. For clarification, the kitchen was connected to this narrow hallway that served as a laundry room with the front door at the end of it.
Thinking it was maybe his dad coming back, we both just started to walk very slowly down the hallway, because it was dark and there were no light switches in the laundry room. I can kind of see the porch light on, so we're getting closer...and closer....
And I'm almost positive one of us bumped it, but the cabinet doors to the left of us attempt to jump open, only held together by a small lock.
We, two teenage boys, grabbed each other, screamed, and ran upstairs like ninnies.
I always see/hear stuff in my house, but that's cause the land is haunted, not so much the house. (unless i'm just going mentally psycho, but i doubt it's that yet)
And I've always lived in haunted houses all my entire life, and even though my memory is really horrible (i forget things a little too much) I still vividly remember the time I saw a half-headless old lady ghost in the house I used to live in, or when I was a toddler (how i still even remember this i dont even hella know) I sat next to an odd lady on the couch who was watching tv and she never moved or talked, and when my parents saw that I was awake by myself watching a static tv around 3AM, they just took me to bed.

That sounds super spooky! Like you said it's probably harmless, a lot of the time hauntings turn out to be like "echos" of whoever was there before...footsteps, knocks, feeling a sort of presence, hearing voices. If it ever starts to feel oppressive or interacting with you/your environment, you should start taking it seriously.
I have quite a long story so I'll put it in a spoiler tag!
SPOILER (click to toggle)
I've never seen or heard a spirit/ghost, but I've felt them. The worst time was when my friend moved in with me for a few months two summers ago.
It started almost immediately after he moved in, and it always took place at night when I was trying to sleep. I would wake up 2-4 times a night in a panic, it always felt like something was trying to wake me up. The air was so heavy and it felt so oppressive in my room, like this overwhelming sadness and desperation. I would wake up and feel like something was standing over me, but mostly it would be in the corner of my room. It felt like it was standing there and watching me.
I had no idea what was going on at the time, I was in a pretty good space in my life and I couldn't understand where all this anxiety and depression was coming from. I was having night terrors every night and sleeping 1-2 hours at most, so I was a real mess. It got to the point where I was too scared to go into my room to sleep at night. It was so bad and I really thought I was going to lose my mind, so I talked to my boyfriend at the time's mom about it. She's a medium and she's dealt with spirits her whole life. She asked me when it started and I told her a month ago, when my friend moved in. Then she asked me if he had any troubled people in his past, which he did. His father died from an overdose when he was a kid, it's something he only told me once and we never talked about it again because it was a really sensitive issue for him. She was under the impression that what was bothering me might have been his dad, and because he couldn't talk to him (my friend doesn't believe in the supernatural and he shuts himself off to that sort of thing) it was trying to talk to me so I could give my friend a message.
I thought that was kinda crazy, but I tried to open myself up to it a little. One night before bed I asked whatever it was if it had something it wanted to tell me, but I didn't get any sort of response. That night though I had a very lucid dream, I was standing in my kitchen and asking for whatever was there to give me a message. It was quiet for a bit and then all of a sudden a gerbil ran out from my kitchen vent and scurried into my friend's room and under the dresser. I followed it and bent down to grab it, and it let out the most horrible screech and bit into my hand. I remember it hurting and I was trying to shake the gerbil off without harming it, eventually it let go and ran away. I went back into my kitchen, and on the counter was a letter, but when I grabbed it to read it I woke up.
I never got the message, I never had another dream like that. After that I bought some white sage and cleared the whole apartment, and that night it felt like I was truly alone for the first time in a month. Whatever was there left, and it didn't come back. I never told my friend about it because I felt it would just make him angry. I've had strange things happen since then, but that was the most significant. Sometimes I wish I could have helped, but then again I really don't want to open that kind of door - I want to keep myself as separated as possible from the supernatural, haha.
