In my opinion, the layout itself is fine. What bothers me is the way that the items in the shops are sorted. It's different for a bunch of shops, and I think it would be better if they were all sorted the same way.
For example, some event shops such as Steamworks, Libertine, and Esther's are sorted by increasing price, but L'amour is sorted by decreasing price. The Recycle shop is sorted alphabetically, and I can't even tell how the items in the Quest shop are sorted.
I think it would be a good idea to have the same sorting in all the shops, just to be consistent.
[edit] I also like the idea of sorting by item ID.
The only thing that bothers me about the layout itself is that some of the pages are rather long and the shop could use a scroll bar so that it doesn't look so horrendous at the bottom of the page.
Other than that, I couldn't agree more with consistency. I personally prefer alphabetical sorting because that makes the most amount of sense to me and I feel like it is the easiest when I need to find something specific. I can't even describe how much it -still- bothers me that the Zombie Den got sorted by price. The amount of time I spent (and still spend!) scrolling up and down each page trying to find ONE item.... grumbles
So yes, consistency please! (Preferably alphabetical consistency.... :P)
I would love if we could sort and/or filter by different options: ID, price, item type, alphabetical. If that's not possible, having all of them sorted by ID would be best.
If we can only get one thing ID shall always get my vote. Otherwise its almost impossible to find out what you've gotten already when a second/third wave of items come.
It would be cool to have various options, but yeah I like this idea too.
Item ID gets my vote, for reasons stated above. :)
Sorting by ID is the most logical to me, as then it's so much easier to find the newly released items (which is part of the reason I regret having bought the steamworks items before the second batch of new stuff was released!)

Alphabetical is only the best option for finding a specific item, for which we already have ctrl+f.
So ID definitely gets my vote. It keeps all items in a set together, when they might not be together if sorting alphabetically. Price sometimes keeps some sets together, but some sets (usually wearable sets) aren't always the same price.
And like other people have already said, sorting by price is a nightmare when there are multiple waves of items released.
