I don't know if this is a normal teenage thing or not but I'm pretty much 100% tired. I sleep on the way home from school and occasionally almost fall asleep in class. I get like 8 hours a night, but for some reason I always feel sluggish. Driving is really difficult for me because it makes me even sleepier. :( Could be my meds and stuff, I'm not sure. I'm wondering if anyone else has this issue?
It's possible it's your meds, although if you've been on them for quite a while, your body should be more used to them. You should definitely talk to your doctor and parent/s about this.
I do get tired a lot though, but I'm 30 years old and definitely not a teenager anymore (although sometimes I'm told I act like one, lol). Personally, I think I have a thyroid problem, because in addition to the tiredness, I also have trouble losing weight and mood problems.
I hope you figure out what's wrong soon though! It's no fun being tired when there are things you want or need to be doing!
Yeah, I think I will talk to my parents about it. I've been on my meds for a year or two so it might not be them after all. We do have a history of thyroid issues, which I totally forgot, so I'll check into that! It's totally possible. :>
Have you been checked for anemia? If you're under a lot of stress or have something like depression, those could both be causes for being tired. Take a look at your diet too: do you eat lots of fruits and foods meant for long-lasting energy? Or do you eat lots of processed foods that have lots of sugar/salt/oils that can make you feel sluggish? I notice personally when I eat less meat or no meat at all I generally feel lighter and more energetic.
Try exercising if you don't already- even when you feel tired doing a quick yoga video or some stretches can help you feel energized and it gets your body moving.
Also, try to create an ideal sleeping environment. You say you sleep well, but sometimes things like not sleeping with proper lighting (or darkness I should say lol) can cause us to not sleep soundly; if you're interrupted often throughout the night that could be an issue as well. And for naps during the day, don't take any longer than about 20 min as they could mess up your sleep cycle. If you fix all of those types of things and they still don't help much, definitely try seeing a doctor. I have constant fatigue and I really need to be seeing a doctor as well lol v____v
There may be nothing wrong, eight hours may simply not be enough. Teenagers can require up to 9 or 9 1/2 hours a night. By all means talk to your parents, but there's no immediate need to suspect there's something wrong.

I'm twenty and usually tired, have been for a long time. I actually seem to be more energetic at night and less so during the day, which can be a problem when it comes to getting to sleep and waking up even when I have had plenty of rest. I've always assumed that my body was obnoxiously convinced that it was nocturnal, in spite of my wishes. xD (If anyone has advice on how to convince my body that it is, in fact, diurnal, that'd be great. I've been trying to no avail for years.)
What kind of medication are you on, though? You can probably research it and see if drowsiness is a common side effect. Have you been tired since starting the medication, even before it, or only recently?
You are what you eat, so dietary improvements may well help. I know this can be a little tricky when you're still living with your parents, though, as they get to choose what groceries to buy and what you all eat at family meals and such. It may be something you need to talk to them about, if you feel your diet could be a contributing factor.
Personally, I used to keep some Atomic Fireballs on hand because spicy foods in general made me feel ever so slightly more alert, and hard candies are easy to carry around. It's horribly silly, but it helped a little bit. I mostly did it to keep me alert enough to successfully focus on my homework. :P
I'm tired /constantly/. No matter how much sleep I get per night, I wake up feeling even more tired than I was before I went to bed, which really sucks. The last time I wasn't tired was when I slept for almost a day and a half straight. Then again, I have a lot of issues with depression, so this is a "normal" thing for me :/ Sorry to hear you're tired all the time, it's really no fun :c
As for being sleepy while driving, try keeping your windows open, my bf does that a lot. My teacher once told me that if you're getting sleepy while driving, you should keep a lemon with you so you can take a bite of it x)

I'm 24, and for the past two years, I have felt tired all of the time. Like you, I get on average 8 hours of sleep and could lay in bed all day.
A few months ago, I was tested thoroughly and was diagnosed with Lyme Disease (carried by ticks). Other theories were sleeping disorders, depression, anemia, low B12 level, etc.
I feel your pain! It is no fun feeling tired all of the time! ESPECIALLY being this young and not really having a demanding/stressful schedule. Good luck!
I've been tired every day for a long time and some of it has been depression related and things. However, about a month ago now I had a sleep study and also found out I have sleep apnea. Treating that has helped quite a bit.
