Let's talk about weird dreams!

So I've been having really odd dreams lately. The truly weird thing is that I usually don't remember my dreams (because you always dream, you just forget a lot of them) since I've been on this medication my psychiatrist prescribed me. It's called Prazosin and it reduces or gets rid of such nightmares. It's worked great until recently.

Anywho, my dreams include me living off the grid with a bunch of other people from some anime I watch. I don't need to watch fanfiction thank you very much :/ Anyone else have a similar experience, or just really odd/recurring dreams?

I have one recurring dream ever since I can remember. I'm in elementary school and about 7 years old; my friend and I are eating lunch in the cafeteria when we decide to go outside. We see some brooms and take them and pretend we're witches, and suddenly we are witches! We are flying on our brooms and we go into outer space to see the stars. Sometimes we encounter aliens and are taken to their ship but it's not all the time I dream this. After we are beamed to the ship my dream ends.

That last part sounds really disturbing and sad :( I am studying to be a mental health counselor and I've studied multiple theories in that field. I've been researching more now that I'm in grad school, and one of the theorists I've always found fascinating is Carl Jung. There's a lot on typology in dreams and I have a book discussing the symbols and how they are represented and interpreted in different cultures.

Have you ever thought of having a dream journal? I think I might keep one. Dreams are just so odd. When I'm dreaming something I don't like (not a nightmare; I don't have any control over those) I hear myself saying, 'Let's try that again but with this instead...' and it happens until I am satisfied with the way the dream plays out.

The other night I dreamt my boyfriend was an ant. It was a bit weird...

I remember my dreams pretty well. It's common for me to remember at least one dream from every night. I tend to write the best ones down in the morning.

I often have dreams where I'm a man (I'm female in real life, obviously since I mentioned this...). Then there are the really weird sexual dreams where the sex isn't even the main point so it's just a bunch of gross/silly happenings after another. Like in one dream I borrowed my boyfriend's penis so I could have sex with a couple of girls, except that I threw the penis away because it was about to explode (like a bomb, not like... well. yeah. XD). Lately I've also had dreams where my brain comes up with the most far-stretched explanations for events. Once I dreamt I had a two-year-old kid and the only explanation I had no memory of ever meeting that kid was that my boyfriend's ex-girlfriend had raised the kid. What?? :D

I'm also quite different as a person in dreams. In reality, I'm quiet and reserved, but in dreams I'm always talking to everyone and saying how things should be done and being a leader. I'm also much more emotional in dreams; I'm never that jealous in reality, but in dreams I can be a real drama queen.

I've had dreams like those before! They don't happen often but they pop up occasionally. I wonder if males ever dream of such things?

I do not understand your question. Could you please expand on it?

I've always had weird dreams. Now that I'm pregnant they're even worse haha. Luckily they tend to be silly the majority of the time, and not scary. I always seem to remember my dreams too. I just have too many. :p

I have lots and lots of recurrent dreams. Funny thing, the place they take place is all connected. Same world. Being inside and outside the dream I can tell where a certain place is, the direction, how to get there.. Depends on my path the dream it leads to so sometimes I try to go a different path when I know I'm having a dream that I know how it will end up.... just to see what happens. I had a weird dream the other day tho, I dreamed I was with this friend I was going to see next day and she would stick her hand between her legs and go all "omg, bleeding already, agh!" and I was like "alright, just your period, go wash your hand". I woke up and I had just gotten my period. Funny thing, dreaming about periods and waking up to notice yours have already arrived.

I have a lot of flying dreams, for some reason. I think that's the most common theme, for some reason. My twin sister and I have a couple recurrent shared dreams, like a super scary dream and this dream that we are toddlers and the car is moving on it's own. o__o;

my only recurring dream is flood. basically the end of the world/noah's flood kind of thing >> im usually surviving. the last time, the voodoo priestess from American Horror Story was in it o.o she put up a shield saying she doesnt care about anything, but there will be no drop of water on her land [middle of the desert, and people needed some]. she wanted to cast a spell and the flood wasnt going to ruin it for her...

beat this if you can...lol

I have frequent odd dreams... The other night I was flying around on a cushion.... My flying dreams are always funny because I have a fear of heights & that is in my dreams too. So I'll be flying along, look down & get scared & careen towards earth & then have to pull up to avoid collisions. I also frequently dream about beads. Where I'm diving into vats of beads.... Or there are beaded clothes, & If you shake them, the whole pattern changes.

I have recurring dreams that my lover is going to die in some horrible way. Usually it involves robbers or car crashes. Here he is, wondering why I'm always such a nervous wreck.

I've always had very vivid dreams, and I can usually remember rather minute details and things people (or I) have said and done. I don't usually have recurring dreams, but I have themes that appear often -- mainly water, and water slides in particular. I also have recurring situations where I have no privacy when I try to do something.

I was on Strattera (for my ADHD) for a bit, and I had some really not-so-nice dreams during that time. My brain just kept wanting to bring up things that I thought I had moved on and forgotten about. It wasn't very much fun.

When I was young (like 4-5 years old) I used to have a recurring theme in my dreams. It was always at the same location but was never the same events.

It usually started with my school taking a field trip to a marine life museum/aquarium type of place. We would be ushered around and things usually happened different from that point.

  1. As we walk by a tank of Piranhas the staff comments that they hadn't been fed yet and they start throwing my class mates in the tank.
  2. I wander away from the group cause I'm tired and lay down on a couch in a dark room, I look up and there's a body floating in the tank. I quickly roll of the couch before it falls through the floor into a shark tank.
  3. We finish the tour and are escorted to a hotel attached to the building where we are staying. The pool is marked off for repairs but my classmates brother insists he's going to go swimming. He jumps into the pool from our balcony and giant crabs pull him apart.

...Did I mention these were nightmares?

Any ways, they freaked me out so much I remember them vividly to this day and I'm in my twenties.

I used to get a lot of strange, reoccurring nightmares when I was young, but luckily that's stopped and I can't remember them now. The weirdest dream I've had lately that I can remember was one where my cat could talk. He was a big frickin' jerkass who just harassed me for food. So I mean, other than the talking part it was pretty much normal.

Once I had a dream that I was making cheese bagels, but my dad was storing the TV remotes in the toaster oven, so I had to use another one that I didn't know I owned, and it turned my bagel into glass... When I was little, I had a lot of weird nightmares (Well, they seemed scary back then... Maybe not so much now). There was one where my uncle turned me into a robot, and another where this little worm was causing an apocalypse because it instantly killed anyone it bites. The worm killed me in that dream...

If those aren't weird, I don't know what is.

i used to have a lot of really weird reoccurring dreams but the number of them has died down a lot

i still occasionally have one really vivid dream where im in this large house thats completely empty and it always ends up causing me to wake up horrified. i remember having that dream every night for at least a month and even though it was the same dream it was different - like i would see different parts of this same house that ive only seen in this dream. and every time i get this feeling im supposed to be looking for something and being chased by something at the same time. its really stuck with me.

i havent had it in a while thankfully but i still remember it all so well its really strange.

I dream very vividly and can remember them pretty well after i wake up. I pretty much dream in a parallel universe made up of mixed up bits of my past and present and other influences like stuff on tv or things i read about or people talk about, etc. then other times i dream up fictional worlds with fictional characters. sometimes the two worlds cross and i have some really crazy dreams. i love dreaming, but sometimes the parallel dreams can make me abit confused in the morning as i'll have trouble separating real experiences from dreamed ones. i don't know why i have never kept a dream journal. when i wake up the dreams are so eventual i feel like i could never forget them, but as always in a couple of days they fade out of my mind and sometimes i forget them entirely.
