Is it just an optional alternative to the lakeside resort? Or is there some added benefit to it?

I tried finding a thread or something on this, but I've found nothing but glitch complaints and references to the shop half. :/

The Rathskeller Inn can house your pets for up to 31 days whereas the Veta resort can only house your pets for up to 14 days.
