I just deleted some frozen users from my friends list but when I hold mouse over person>friends their names are still there how long does that normally take to update

the time of cache for most site features is around five minutes. Some are deliberately hours-long or day-long, though. If you want to know for certain, you can file a Ticket in Help and see if someone can give you an answer.
