Well, to my friends this isnt news, but my basement flooded....Again.
Oh, but not the normal little puddle by the washer type flood. No, the kind that destroys everything in its vicious, bastardly path.
I lost two paintings, and all of my father's army photos :c
On top of that, it ruined some furniture, but I couldnt care less. All Ive got left of those photos is a wrinkled up Polaroid with no face.
Anyone have a puppy I can kick? Or a tissue?
I at least hope you all had a better day. Right?
Yes, luckily everything that could fit in boxes besides those photos were in them, stacked on shelves. I dont know how I would have reacted if more had been ruined.
It's all family things down there, so it would have been something close to a nuclear explosion, I suppose.
I'll just have to hope I can get most of them restored :c
Aw, I hate when you lose pictures! :(
It makes me feel really bad for you. Pictures are the one object you can't really replace. :c
I hope you feel better soon!
i don't have a puppy but my dad has an ass.
Aw that sucks balls. :c
My ex's grandparents basement had flooded while they were in Florida when we had some extremely bad rain in the Midwest last fall. They had just bought a new flatscreen and some furniture before they left which all got completely ruined being that the water was about 4 feet deep. Most of the other stuff that got ruined wasn't too bad, but you can see where the water was at on the walls now.
May be a long shot, but did your dad have any friends from the army that he stayed in touch with, or that you could get in touch with? I know with my dad, he had pictures of him with a bunch of his buddies. So, maybe they may have some of your dad during that time? Obviously it wouldn't be the same pictures, but better than nothing.
Oh man, I'm so, so sorry. :( I've never had that happen, but I do know people who lost a lot of their house due to flooding in the area -- they had to rebuild parts of it because the water wrecked carpeting and furniture and then it got stale and there was mold, etc. Last summer, the runoff was so much that part of a major interstate was shut down in Wisconsin!
I hope that things get better for you, though. :( Good luck with restoring the pictures.
@ Angelo: My gosh, I love you -stretches kicking leg-
@ Freck: Wtf? I cant imagine things that expensive being ruined. I hope they could get some insurance money :c
: I wish I knew them, but he was stationed in Germany, so most them were not from America.
: House pwns my photos. Srsly.
Well, best of luck with the photos. Houses can be repaired, but photos cannot always be replaced. :(
Oh my goodness. D: No one else has any copies?
The only friend he made that lives in America may have some boot camp photos, but all of the ones from Germany are lost. They're all old Polaroids, so they just wrinkled up and are bleeding their colors everywhere :c
Just found the ones of him and my mother over there as well. Lost a lot of those, too, but some can be fixed. Thank god.
