I have an older computer with Windows 98SE, along with Firefox 2. I cannot upgrade to FF 3 cuz it doesn't support my OS. Anyhoo, all the java script programs have been slowing my computer down to a crawl on Subeta lately.
Which JS programs are essential to play on the site? I've figured out that I need Prototype.js and Subeta.js. But can I block the other ones if I don't care about seeing the mouse hover-over info, etc. or if I'm not fiddling with my User Profile?
Any help appreciated! (I'm not sure that I put this in the right forum -- Mods, feel free to move!) :)
I'm not sure about java but have you tried NoScript? I think it's available for all FF versions and could help.?
You can use your customCSS to block pretty much anything on Subeta you feel slows it down like the hover effect. I don't have the code off hand but I can get it for you if needed :]

Thanks, Revel... I use AdBlockPlus, which can block the javascripts (JS). I've figured out thru trial and error that I need to let subeta.js run so I can have the clock on my page. And I need to let prototype.js run, so that I can go to the Donation Center and be able to post in the Forums. But I haven't figured out yet what all the other JS programs are for. I know some are for the hover-over effect and the drop-down box on the Search page.
I wish I was more tech-savvy, lol. :)
P.S. If you find the customCSS codes to block the js programs, I sure would appreciate it.
